Substitute 'Oliver' for 'Petty' in that statement, how convinced would we be?

Personally, I don't think he goes (nor does Clayton), but just sayin'...

Is Clarry a forward 🧐😂😳?

I’m not convinced

Oops... I saw Petty instead of Clarry

Win another flag (or two) with us under the current contract, then he can go if he wants.

This highlights a need to draft a defender this year. May will decline, Tomlinson is nearly done, Turner is still unknown and Petty ideally plays forward, with the possibility of leaving. Not much to fill defensive post in 2-3 years time.

Turner unknown this kid is what we need just needs games into him he will be ok.

The problem with Petty as a forward is price. He'll probably command a 30% premium as a forward over what he would be worth down back.

Hopefully they lock up a contract extension earlier rather than later

I presume you are the age of your name and like me I am 75 ( 65 year supporter from 1958) and we at our age start to forget things, and you have forgotten Jed Adams from WA in last years draft was secured for that very reason.

He might be a season away at least as he is bulking up this year and gaining experience, snd Disco Turner needs game time from Round 1 on the back line .

We are reasonably  served with both Joel Smith and Tmac who can play on talls as depth.

IMO we need another KP forward/2nd ruckman this year far more than a defender. Of course Fullarton may well fill this gap as the session progresses.

Unfortunately Tmac is pretty much done...so I wouldn't be relying on him as tall depth.

Bigger turning circle and slower than Tommo.

I have spoken to my contact at the club.

Petty and his management met with Adelaide around 3 weeks ago.

They put together a presentation based around him returning to defence.

Petty ultimately said no.

The dust settled.

Adelaide have come back with an increased offer after Doedee's decision and Petts manager has told them he won't be leaving Melbourne this trade period.

We definitely have our work cut out for his long term commitment.

Yep going to have to be a massive year to try and convince him to stay

Well, it was clear as day when Tim Lamb said - he will play for us next year  - those last two words being the most meaningful ones.

If he is meeting with them whilst contracted do you get the feeling once it’s up he’ll leave?

Maybe a Coleman medal would convince Harrison to stay 🤔?

Fully fit he is certainly capable of this feat.

Stay Harry - win  another flag, a Coleman and maybe even a Normie.

Petty will be an FA at end of 2025 so can walk to a club of his choice and we would get a comp pick in the mid to high teens (assuming the comp pick is deemed to be first round).

If he goes next year we can negotiate a better deal with Adelaide.

Wouldn't want to lose him but if he helps us win a flag or two before he goes then so be it.

Comments by Luke Dunstan in a SEN interview today.

“Petty's got a pretty serious foot operation that he had, who knows whether he'll be back and fit and firing.”

Maybe there is a concern of his long term future from a physical point of view.

THis is an interesting watch.

As hes contracted and a required player we'd want a decent return, what did we pay for Lever, i'd assume the compensation should be equivalent to that.

I do get the sense that will be the case.

However, he will be at Melbourne in 2024.

i'd do that deal, as much as i rate Harry Petty, always risks coming back from the injury he's got and he did have a few injuries this year, that's a BIG return

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
