I never realised that the Queensryche song Revolution Calling was written about the AFL

Vince McMahon would shake his head at what goes on in the AFL.

I think whoever plays the Filth will win it. Their luck could be about to run out and they'll be tired after that huge hit out. If Lions have a soft win today it should be curtains for the Filth and Maynard.

Little chance of the Lions having a soft outing tonight, the Blues have been playing tough, bruising footy for the last 3 months, will be a tough game, whoever wins.

Maybe, but i hope not. Lions need to go in fresh after a 6 day break.

Basically i am fed with AFL football. Its run by incompetent buffoons bordering on corruption . The  arrest of that AFL umpire for betting or assisting other gamblers vanished from the press very quickly. The AFL is never held accountable.

Its all corporate.  The AFLexecutive branch and media live under the same elite dome cut off from the outside world. Theyre basically paid by the same corporate paymasters who own TV radio and maybe soon Paramount or Amazon.

Corporations buy and own most US politicans who vote on their behalf not their constituents.

Why do people put up with Ticketek and Tickmaster.

An unnecessary duopoly created by Tricky Gil. Whats his #%## cut.

This Season i have noticed it more than other years. The AFL is an entertainment industry, and nothing more. It was certainly our year to be shafted.
last night was absolute proof. The AFL shafted itself to have The Filth in the GF.

So many decisions were not called….

Although I agree that the umpiring last night was horrendously biased at times, I can’t agree that there’s any grand conspiracy surrounding it. We see interstate teams receive this sort of favouritism all the time in finals in front of big home crowds. It’s just human nature unfortunately to be swayed by thunderous screams and calls of ‘baaaallll’ from lopsided supporter attendances like that. Crappy umpiring but nothing sinister in it.

Also, the AFL I’m sure would’ve been just as happy to have GWS in another GF. It’s not all about Collingwood of the prospect of extra gate takings and more eyeballs at home on one particular day. They’d be fully cognisant of the opportunity to further grow the popularity of the AFL in a market they’ve pumped tens of millions of dollars into.

No conspiracy there guys.

I guess my question is: how on earth would the umpires be instructed, overtly or covertly, to favour the Pies?

Genuine question.

the huge partisan crowd would definitely impact decisions - we know that. But a concerted, deliberate effort?

I will say that the Pies, while impressive for a season and a half, have had some incredible luck at times. But you know, the harder you work, the luckier you get - and they’ve got some skills I’ll grant them that. And team belief - big time.

I like a good conspiracy as much as the next person but this one is just silly. It doesn’t happen.

Just gone on twitter and it seems the other radio stations have had a real crack at the umpires.

Fair enough to.

Despicable umpiring in every final so far . At least 11 non-decisions against Collingwood in the final quarter alone

Congrats Gil you have completely stuffed the comp.

You can point to crowds as I am sure you would by die hard fans are over the umpire bias/incompetence and MRO

Totally agree

I'm finding the aflw much more relaxing and enjoyable to watch.

Didnt know Kossie had been suspended for a bump on a Carlton player. WTF ! Its nothing in comparison to Maynard knocking Brayshaw out cold. And we lost one of our few remaining forwards  JVR  for 1 week.

Melbourne players cannot get physical otherwise rubbed out immediately.

Carlton and Collingwood players can do what they want.

The AFL is #####ing mess. Sick of it.

So Collingwood lose McStay next week & he is a loss because he's a tall target. They have barely kicked enough goals as it is.

Anyway lets hope Brisbane win easily & don't get any injuries

Wouldn't he be impressed? He would have killed to be able to script the XFL like this.

After two weeks of absolutely gut punching soul destroying losses, I honestly couldn’t care less that Collingwood won last night. Not worth the emotional energy.

Assuming Brisbane make the GF, they may have a massive advantage if the weather forecast holds up. Mid to high 20’s.

In 2001 Brisbane overrun Essendon on a 28 degree day. Maybe history repeats itself. Can Collingwood’s manic defence hold up on very warm day?

Brisbane win and there's still hope the season is not a complete disaster, but lose and I don't even want to think about the next seven days.

So the alternative is systemic, year on year incompetence. Either is unacceptable.

That umpires aren’t capable of remaining non partisan is an indictment on them and the league

Then again the betting umpire is back umpiring. What’s up with that?

Does anyone else find it ironic that Gil seems to want a Collingwood v Carlton GF when all we've had shoved in our face for the last 10 years seemed to be trying to get someone like GWS across the line?

Sort of like nurturing and feeding their single goldfish for years and then one day suddenly having a bolt from the blue:

"Oh that's right I've got these beautiful (and profitable) golden retrievers in the backyard I forgot about! Don't take it personally while I flush you down the toilet little fella!"

I think Gill wants the Coll v Carl grand final in his final year so he can point to all the crowds and pat himself on the back at how good a shape he has left the game in. And they are doing everything to make it happen.

I wonder how who our players would generally be wanting to make the GF? From recent history, it would seem our players hate the Lions a lot more? Clarry definitely looks like a Blues lover with the trade whispers and mutual respect for Cripps.

If Brisvegas cant win it this year then they never will.

Lions by 27 or heaven help us if Carlton pull this off.

This September Final Series has truly been hideous so far. I expect that trend to continue

AFL needs to sack that guy honestly
