Jimmy Munro retires from VFL

Loved the passion and effort Moose brought to Casey. Will be missed, big loss for Casey. Wish him well at Cora Lynn.

Imagine lining up in the West Gippsland Footy League and having to take on the Moose?

Massive loss for Casey. Heart and soul of that club.

All the best Jimmy.

Bloke will be a absolute weapon in country footy.

Didn't he enjoy that 2022 premiership!

Go with our blessing, Moose.

The sort of bloke you'd love to have as a team mate.  Thanks Moose. Glad you got that well deserved flag.

Very sad to see the Moose leave Casey. He's been an absolute warrior!

All the best Jimmy.

Good luck to those poor bastards.😂

Well done James.

Good luck in the next stage of your footy career.

Would not have enjoyed his last game. The way the VFL competition is run is farcical and an insult to players like Munro who give their heart and soul every week of the season that’s not interrupted by yet another bye or the withdrawal of half of the team’s best players because of fixturing issues created from above.

Loved watching the Moose play, tackling machine

Moose certainly DID NOT enjoy his last game, and didn’t make a secret of how angry he was about this. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is as loyal and dedicated as they come, so who can blame him.

Him & White were the glue down at Casey.

Talk about blood and guts.

Sounds like he wasn't happy at all with the final game.

A pretty ordinary ending to the season at both levels for us it would seem.

Will be sorely missed.  Was a thorn in every other club's side.

Goody luck Jimmy and thanks for the amazing efforts & memories plus the 22 Premiership year.

Good luck James Moose Munro, sorry to see you go loved your stats moose tackles a huge feature, the boys would have walked taller in your shadow. The AFL should be disgusted with their handling and fixturing of the VFL competition total disgrace. Enjoy coaching and playing you will finally know who is playing next week.💕

I wonder if I'll watch any VFL games next year now sans Moose.

A huge loss for Casey. Will be sorely missed by his teammates and as for the fans, Moose was your quintessential cult hero. We have folks in the DA who follow VFL passionately and they’re so sad to hear he’s leaving. But apparently he loves his job as a paramedic and will continue doing that, he’s also thinking of starting a little family with moose babies running around everywhere 😁🥰 It’s great to know he’ll be happy post-Casey.

Stunts like pulling half the team out just do not work in the longer term...the wrong message and culture pervades the whole group.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
