It’s ok, this is a place where you can get your anger out (and remember to put your anger here and not at home).

we will be angry, we will be disappointed, but we will be back. We get up tomorrow and start thinking about next year and how we build and go again.

We have a forward line for next year of Petty, JVR, Smith, Fritch, Kozzie and Spargo. If we get a McAdam or a Watson, things look better.

there is enough to like about what we are and what we will be.

just get your anger out here and let’s get to the G in 2024

Great you still have terrible kickers delivering the ball

Remember guys.

Key indicators and expected scores prove that we should have won so I don't know why we're stressing.

Our game-plan experts in @binmanand @Binmans PAwill conduct a breakdown as to why we have the best gameplan and how we will win the flag this year.

Collingwood don't have a plan that stands up remember and Carlton don't have the run in the legs to match us.

Also, our lack of ball users and ineffective forward line is wayyyy overblown. Look at 2021 finals seriessss.

Now, onto next wee---.... Oh, hang on a minute...

And your solution is ?????? The man who only comes on here after a loss.

We have had goal kicking problems ALL SEASON and had ALL SEASON to fix it and we didn’t and this is the end result.

Out in straight sets again for the second yr in the row.

I am so disappointed with Goody and the players for not fixing this problem that has been there all season.

Another season wasted which is such a shame.

What a horrible and disappointing end to another season.

Hopefully we fix it over the off season otherwise we will be back here next season AGAIN.

You underestimate him.

In 2021 this team was so regimented and drilled. Discipline does that. Burgess was in their heads both at training and away from football. His game day input also significant.

They're all over the place now. They try here and there but they're not the same team IMO. Our lack of professionalism is telling. I throw the coach in there as well, he leaves too much to chance,  nort meticulous enough.

Our problems go a lot deeper than losing Burgess though, no doubt.

Simon "score takes care of itself" Goodwin.

And the Dogs won the 2016 flag with half the team out. We weren't short of players we were short of smarts

It was a very poor coaching performance. Goodwin was exhausted and you could tell. Schache as a sub. The coaching team just wasn't thinking straight. They were out of ideas. Spargo is a good role player but isn't winning you a game in the 4th. Our match winners choked.

It was poor decision making to target Grundy and then not even back him in. You think bringing a player in like that who has such significant cultural impact as he did, almost immediately being "one of the boys" to suddenly being overlooked, doesn't have some sort of impact? Bringing in guys like Jordon when you have even a spark like Woewodin waiting to bring some energy in. Throughout 2022 refusing to play JVR so that in 2023 he is essentially still a rookie and inexperienced.

It's a learning curve for Goodwin still and I'm sorry and people can attack me but I've never seen a choke like this in my life watching football. We were spooked so bad. And it completely dilutes the value of our flag. Some here refuse to admit it because they live in a bubble but as soon as we come up against the big boys we choke. And Goodwin is yet to show the coaching nuance to counter it.

Yep good call. He looked so special against Hawthorn. Like the Neitz we've been missing since about '05.

Could be more straight sets, who knows.

If nothing changes for next year and we don't get a good Psychologist... it'll be tough task.

Gut feel, our list is not as strong as people think.

Our best 3 players let us down horribly with their skills at key moments

Agreed the list has been overrated. We had players tonight who aren’t that good.

Where was our expected forwards tonight?

It’s been going on all year.

It started with not playing Brown when he came back from injury, not playing JVR for a while there, constantly dropping Tomlinson and not playing a third tall defender, not playing Smith forward and now not playing Grundy and leaving a sub unused.

Yep

Idiotic

Not to mention the absence of Brayshaw and JVR (in the second case self-inflicted). But maybe it says something about our lack of depth, because every club has to  cope with injuries and suspensions.

Just can’t trust our team. It makes footy so painful to watch. Can only hope this builds some steel. The Oliver touched and Kozzy snap hitting the post were heart-breaking. The moment we were 5 points ahead you knew a Carlton goal was coming.

Bloody criminal organization.

Need a coaching panel clearout.

Nothing went our way this year after Petty's injury.

I actually disagree with this. Despite the injuries, despite what i thought were poor team selections, despite some dubious umpiring decisions, and despite our obvious lack of decent (basic) skills, we should have easily won both finals. So, for all the bad, we should be playing in the Prelim. I really hope that sticks in the players throats. This team has thrown away a premiership. They deserve to be called over-rated chokers.

They're lasting games tho. Fitness is clearly not an issue. And we've barely been hit by injuries compared to what the Pies have dealth with over the past two seasons.

And as if tonight couldn’t get worse my Essendon mate texted me to say our season was a bigger waste than theirs and that we [censored] the bed.
I texted him the score from their final two games and said this is what [censored] the bed and rolling in it looks like.

Calm down, Jack. It wasn't Goody who missed 17 shots at goal. With Petty, JVR and Melksham out, our forward line probably qualifies as the least accurate goalkickers in the AFL. And Viney has been a midfield tiger all season. With Kozzie, you get magic moments mixed with dumb mistakes. That's the way he will always be.

Welcome to the MFC.

Without the AFL intervention we would not have won in 2021.

We are mostly a mid range club, we get into finals but quickly get booted.

If your beats true, I’m afraid this is it.

I was there in ‘64 - that was the end of the great era.

Completely agree about Woey. He could not of played any worse than Jordon, McDonald and Chandler.

You know he would of at least once hit a target in the forward line.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
