Stuff drafting a kid, poach a key forward.

I think a lot of people are putting too much expectation on Petty his only played 1 good game as a forward he played a few stinkers down there this year that no one seems to be talking about. I don’t know if there’s any chance of getting him but I think I’d rather try get Naughton the Jamara and Lynch

Not to mention the expectation some are placing on JVR’s shoulders at 20yo. The kid has played 20 games and kicked 28 goals. That’s promising but naturally he’s going to run hot and cold at that age. He’s still filling into his frame ffs. He’s not Wayne Carey.

It’s a no brainer that we bring in a key  forward. It’s just a matter of who we can shake loose. If we fail to do so and push all our chips into a Petty/JVR combo I strongly suspect we will be back here at the same time next year lamenting another season of what might’ve been.

Given the painful lesson we’ve learned this year that would be unforgivable.

It might be a dumb suggestion as he is key to our back successes, but what about putting Steven May at full-forward and getting Ben McKay from North as a key back?

Per earlier posts I don't think we need a KPF but rather a ruck that can rest forward. With Petty, JVR and J Smith as our key forwards and T-Mac and Schache as backups, along with Melksham recovering late in the season if we were to bring in a KPF then we would expect one of Petty, JVR or Smith to be running around in the twos which I don't think is a good thing. For our forward line I'd be targeting pace, class and goal kicking small forward who can rotate through the middle.

Lachlan Gallant; cant get a look in at the Crows but seems to have the attributes to be a reasonable key forward. He is also a beautiful kick.

been earmarked as their mcadam replacement, more a fritsch than a roo. or a schache not a BBB. if those comparisons make sense?

5-8 disposals but 2-3 scoring shots type of hit up forward, like a sam sturt at freo

Was playing well v Hawks and North in games he was injured in. Provided his foot heals well/promptly, expect him to do a good job next year.

not robust enough to play a whole season looking at his history

Wouldnt be relying on him to first KPF

I seem to be on my pat malone on this but the treatment of Schache this year has been one of the season's mysteries for me. He was never given a chance. He is exactly the type of player we have needed at various stages during the season but was never really given a chance. I would have at least given him a couple of decent games so he could settle in to the system a bit and see if he could deliver. He was brought on for 10 minutes as the sub a few rounds ago and then the final was an utter debacle. How could he not have been worth a try compared to T Mac. There was nothing to lose. Obviously they don't rate him but at least give the guy a go, especially in the circumstances this season. I'd hate to get treated that way by my Boss in a job and stay happy and focused.

That’s a shame. He was basically the perfect low cost option for us. Tall forward who can clunk a mark, only 23 years old and has potential to be a solid player, even if only as a stop gap for a few years while others develop.

Who else is on the market? Chol is the only other tall forward who’s actually being shopped around.

We need better. Not ‘potential to be a solid player’. We’ve already got that with JVR and maybe Jefferson.

Tom Fullarton maybe as another cheap option. Out of contract I believe but haven't heard about any specific speculation around him.

Have you caught any of his Casey games - you might find you answer there?

Know what you mean. But he kicked 4 a couple of weeks ago. I'd give him a go rather than never giving him a go and never knowing. Especially as there was nothing to lose at various stages.

Yes. I agree. Tom Fullerton on a 3 year deal.  Could carry the load to assist Gawn and also play forward when needed.  Has the physical ability and knows how to use his strength.  Wouldn’t be a high cost imv.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
