Ouch. The thread title has changed to "vs Carlton" at half time. Over to you, Sydney...

Surely the club appeals the JVR suspension. Was graded medium impact, McStay played out the game could argue it down to low impact surely?

We can but I don’t think we will. A week for that is pretty right. It was definitely not a necessary action, and McStay had to go to the rooms for an assessment.

I’d give him a trophy if he did it to Cox tho. Wasn’t worth it on McStay, he’s a spud.

Grundy is so inept as a forward, that I think bloody tomlinson would offer more playing there.

This is a guy who played as a pure forward for Casey, looked so completely lost that they gave up at HT and played him ruck.

He nerfs Gawn when he plays, which is an outcome we simply can't afford.

Schache is not contested enough. So... either swing tomlinson or heck even Turner there, back in Spargo and a small forward line, just PLEASE don't play Grundy. Please.

I hope David King is in the media this week saying how Melbourne should get 75% of the seats against Carlton because it's our home game 🤨

Won't have to worry about Jack Martin. He's gonski

So is Mckay ...likely

McKay appears concussed so  (depending on Jesse Hogan’s mate, the Carlton doctors assessment) should miss next week.
Which may change out defensive set up

Their lawyer has already got him off and 3 Brownlow votes.

JVR will be downgraded to a fine,he plays.

Now that I think about it, the Swans player did headbutt his fist.

Harmsey did his hammy this morning in the scratch match against Carlton reserves.

While I don’t wish any player any injuries from us or the opposition they need to think outside the box and become inventive. Harmes while a good servant and loyal his style of football gas been surpassed.

They should appeal

How so? Sounds unlikely.

Appeal, should have got an extra week for stupidity.

Watching Parker deep forward against Carlton, Trac plays deep on him.

carlton not dealing with Sydney taking the game on or the slingshot

I haven’t seen enough of him, but could Disco play tall fwd roll to bring it to ground.

Apparently played forward today and played well?

guys if we can’t beat the Blues, we aren’t premiers or even close

we are pretenders

we had a false start against the Pies. never again

They’ll beat us at clearance and pump it forward, sheesh, could get ugly

Feeling better after seeing Sydney fight back. Should beat the Blues comfortably

The formula is so clear from these two finals:

1. Attack from minute one, instead of when you're already multiple goals behind
2. Kick goals instead of behinds (duh), i.e., score when you have momentum
3. Nope just two.

3. Have a forwardline with, wait for it, forwards

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
