This women’s team would beat West Coast.
Unbelievable performance!

Wow.

Yes.

Outstanding second half. we smashed them. all our leaders stood up when the game was in the balance. It'll take a very good team to deny us again this year.

hopefully the men can repeat the dose next week.

go dees

Pies torn a new one. More of the same next Thursday please.

What a game from Heath. Her job on Davey changed the game. Mackin, McNamara, Hore and Hanks superb. Campbell was impressive for a second gamer. I'd say no change for next week. Go Dees it's going to take something drastically wrong for us not to win the premiership this year.

That was a brilliant 2nd half. The new skipper was outstanding and led the way after half time.

Our forward line looks like it will function well.

Lets hope it's an omen for next Thursday night

The whole half, indeed, D11!😊

I thought moving Hore and West into the middle made a huge difference, even though West was a bit off her best.

The skill level of Harris, Hanks and McNamara is really high, and I love watching them play.

But individuals aside, that was a cracking game of team footy. Only 2 years ago I couldn't watch AFLW due to its low standard - not any more. That was great to watch. Our pressure, spread from stoppages, and running for each other in the 2nd half was brilliant.

Great win - go Dees!

Yes agree!  Glorious wasn't it.

Shelley Heath was so important, and did a LOT of hard work, especially considering how tiny she is. All while kicking a quiet 2 goals and keeping Davey ineffectual.

Powerful sums it up for me!

Having 5 players who are genuine aerial threats inside 50 whilst not losing speed is such an advantage. Being able to put a score on the board when you’re on top is so important in this competition.

Agree with that. some of our play from the middle into the forwaed 50 was amazing. Hore was captain fantastic in the 2nd half. I thaught our defence started to get things together but Gay and Birch look like they are still on holidays. Shelley Heath is probably my favorite player. She went from being a half back flanker to midfield tagger and dangerous forward. Eliza McNamaras 2nd half was excellent. Good to see her get some clear rouches and great ball movement.

Lets hope the blokes can do to the filth what the girls have done. My beer is tasting fine.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
