Well Mr Meatloaf tried.

'Should've' tried Doc!  I hope KISS arent at his level at this stage of their careers.

We need to remember that Meatloaf at his peak was actually a VG live performer and artist and one of the biggest selling rock artists of all time.  And that's real sales where ppl would purchase a product in store not the latest streamer d'load click sales we see of late.

As was KISS who i recall seeing live at Waverley park with some of 'the boys' and esky in toe many decades ago.

The only trouble even then was they had a limited number of good or better songs on the play list.  Like any band i guess, some were bog ordinary.  But they smashed out the good to VG songs and put on a helluva performance.

Have to say that was the most fun i've had at a rock concert.  From putting on the face paint beforehand to the madness prior to their act.

Someone about 20 meters behind where we were sitting threw a half to 3/4 full Big M my way which hit me square in the back.  Great shot!  Choco milk everywhere and mostly in me!

I was so [censored] i picked up a half orange on the ground, turned to where i thought the offender was sitting, threw the orange at full tilt.  Unfortunately some innocent patron decided right at that moment to go from a bending down position to a sitting position and copped the orange straight on their forehead!  Splattered everywhere.  Ouch!

Crazy times!

The mind games starting with McRae.  We will play 2 rucks but one might be the sub.  lol

Trying to tempt us into playing Grundy.  Don't do it Goody!   Bring in T Mac. We are 7 wins from 8 (should be 8 on the trot) do not mess with our structure

No way will the tactical sub be a bona fide ruckman. Completely limits the required tactical options .

That's why Joel Smith is so good. 100% versatility

Grundy would be helpful in the ruck, but as you said if they bring in T-Mac for Melk and maybe even Tomlinson for Turner then you've got plenty of options to pinch-hit (with JvR) without changing the structure too much.  Granted giving more away vs Cox than Cameron but hopefully finals Viney will retrieve anything no matter who is rucking for both teams.

Not necessarily. Many clubs see ruckmen as a necessary evil. Sure you take an injury risk but it's all about balance and rotations. Realistically it's an admission that neither ruckman has a role forward and with 2 "fresh" ruckmen they will attempt to play Max closely and nullify him.

Doesnt surprise me the dofuss clowns at AFL hq are bringing out KISS. I was a Kiss fan back in the mid seventies.   Theyre still alive?

Are they being brought out in wheel chairs with saline drip racks ?

Meatloaf all over again. Australia can be very embarrassing at times.

Australian bands not good enough?

Absolute rubbish. Plenty of local talent who'd do it for peanuts for the massive free publicity/exposure.

Typical for us to wheel out a bygone yankee band for the biggest sports event in Australia. How much  is dummy paying them. Maybe a million dollars.  Fท##king idiots.

Atleast Mason Cox will be confused. Hes probably never heard of them.1

The decision to play both Cox and Cameron will backfire for Collingwood with the wet weather. Did anyone see Cox play against Port in slippery conditions? Had about 2 touches and was a liability.

That's exactly what he is doing.

Not sure if anyone else saw the Herald Sun Finals Crystal ball article, but this is the summary:

Premiers

Collingwood x 8

Melbourne: x 3

Brisbane: x 2

Runner Up:

Brisbane x 8

Collingwood x 1

Melbourne x 2

Port x 1

Giants x 1

Straight Sets:

Port x 9

Melb x 3

Pies x 1

Also, a big [censored] you to Scott Gullan who thinks we'll go out in straight sets and somehow thinks Port will get past Brisbane and go all the way to the grand final with all their patchy form/injuries.

I'm not a KISS fan, and agree it is crazy not to book Aaussie bands, but there is one big difference to meatloaf.

Meatloaf was very much a has been and decades past being a top seller.

I heard Gerard Whately say something similar ie kids won't know who KISS are. But in fact he was just showing out of touch he is.

KISS remain huge and continue to find new, young audiences all over the world. They are huge with kids now.

People don't but CDs much anymore, but KISS are making a fortune from streaming.

On spotify they get over 13 million monthly listeners and their most streamed song is I was made for loving you with over 800 million streams.

Those numbers aren't all old foggies reliving their misspent youth. Millions of kids love them.

For the same reason they continue to rake in serious coin with touring . Their last major tour was i think 2019. KISS were the only hard rock act in the top 10 grossing tours in the US that year, coming in at number 7, grossing more that $80 mill US

2019 Top 10 North American Tours

1. The Rolling Stones ($177.8M gross; 784,652 tickets sold)
2. Elton John ($157.4M gross; 1,155,510 tickets sold)
3. Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band ($97.0M gross;, 867,925 tickets sold)
4. Pink ($87.9M gross; 624,419 tickets sold)
5. Ariana Grande ($82.6M gross; 700,053 tickets sold)
6. Jonas Brothers ($81.7M gross; 769,310 tickets sold)
7. KISS ($81.6 M gross; 800,302 tickets sold)
8. Fleetwood Mac ($77.5M gross; 544,286 tickets sold)
9. Garth Brooks ($76.1M gross; 856,000 tickets sold)
10. Justin Timberlake ($75.6M gross; 568,449 tickets sold)

On top of all of that they continue to make millions annually from merchandise (having more than a billion dollars in merch sales over their career).

They aint no meatloaf.

On the AFL website, under full replays for Rd13 Melbourne vs Collingwood, I really enjoy watching the video clip 44:50-46:30. Darcy Moore was defending against Fritsch, who managed to mark the ball and score his second goal. Between 46:20-46:30, the camera angle was excellent, and the slow motion showed how Fritsch outmaneuvered Moore step by step. Moore is 2.03m and 100 kg, while Fritsch is 1.88m and 84 kg. It’s just fantastic!

Depends how strong the wind is blowing from the west.  I'm in the Shane Warne stand on Level 4 in Q2 Row A behind the PRE goals. If it's windy I'll get wet despite what the chart says.

Would love to see King Gizz on GF Day! Saw them in 2016, awesome. But to really cross genre, in the words of Destiny's Child, I don't think the MCG is ready for this jelly:

2016 was when I started seeing them. Now I've seen every live show since!

Agree it could be a bit much!

This is a powerful analysis @binman!

And yes, there is a clear chasm betwixt Mr. Loaf and KISS on many fronts. As I mentioned, I saw them on that 2019 tour. And the show was….let’s just say their fans loved it.

But as a full-time musician living in this country, I am once again hyper-disgusted by the choice, as I was with Sting, Lionel Ritchie, Robbie Williams (who for some vague reason will always remind me of former Geelong mayor, Darren Lyons) and any other overseas act. Not withstanding, the obvious reasons why (that we should be elevating local talent), but also because there is something very difficult to stomach about watching an overseas entertainer do their thing at an event that they have no understanding of, or even a vague relationship with at all.

As for KISS, I could also go into the reasons why the AFL should not be putting any money into Gene Simmons’ bank account whatsoever - the guy is a colossal a$$hole - but let’s not.

Given Robbie Williams was paid over $1m to play last year, one can assume the AFL is sending even more into an overseas bank account this year, and really, to what end?

There are dozens and dozens of brilliant acts in this country who would happily do the gig for 1/20th of that fee, and far better represent what the entire day is all about.

And the AFL can spend the leftover cash on a new score review system.

Thankfully they have about a dozen other genres they could select from!

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
