CASEY: Rd 21 vs Carlton VFL

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

The VFL is still a thing and, following their disappointing one point home defeat at the hands of Williamstown before the bye, the Casey Demons travel to Ikon Park to take on the Blues knowing that they have to win one of their two remaining matches to finish in the top six and avoid a wild card match in the group of 7th to 10th.

Over the last 3 weeks we have lost Howes, Sestan & Petty all to end-of-the-season injuries. This will seriously test our depth and impact Casey a lot.

True, but these losses could very well be offset by the potential return from injuries of Clayton Oliver, Tom McDonald and Kye Turner to return us to the status quo. Also Carlton has a big injury list of its own.

I'll be there.

A great place to watch footy these days. And somewhere near my place - unlike Casey

I cant see Clarry playing at Casey.

Straight back into the ones is my guess.

But clearly would push someone back to Casey. Commentary seemed to be saying harmes was injured (wasn’t able to watch closely unfortunately) but if he plays for Casey he’s a 30 touch mid. As is jordon. Even taj racks em up.
Definitely stretched down back without turner and Tomlinson intercepting and Howes out now is just added pain. Wondering if Tmac (if deemed fit) or Schache is sent down back given the height up forward being excessive

Won't send TMAC down back, he plays up front for a couple of weeks and sees if he can get into the 1s, he hasn't been injury free since 2021.

Good to see Kye Turner in the side.  He's missed a hell of a lot of footy this year.

He will be happy as well.

All those laps he ran, mostly by himself. At times, it didn't appear easy for him. Occasionally joining the main group, then returning to full rehab at the next training run. The niggle just wouldn't go.

Likewise, hoping for a relaxed and happy watch after a win against the Blues. Spent a couple of years at a residential college over the road from Prinny Park, and would regularly pop in for the last quarter for free (full game for Dees, obviously). Should be nostalgic.

I won’t be able to watch the game but I look forward especially hearing about how Tom MCD looks after all this time.  A great opportunity for him to stake a claim, though I wouldn’t expect too much from him first up.

All eyes will be on Tmac.

Let's not forget Schache was named emergency. Just shows he's certainly in some contention if he plays well.

Goodwin did not sound all that confident that Grundy will be locked in moving forward. Played a pretty straight bat, but I think we all know Goodwin well enough to think that he knows deep down that Grundy forward experiment didn't work and we'll have to readjust.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
