Uncle Bitter subbed on to replace Lucifer’s Hero.

As you would expect the optimism meter  at Arden Street is either switched off or gone missing.

The mood seems to be one of either passive acceptance of the inevitable or more like a vulture waiting to pounce as soon as the roadkill victim stops twitching.

Reminds me of the Neeld days.

Early opinions below - I’ll update a couple times pre slaughter.

“ Watch this 100 point smacking

May and lever to break intercept mark record

Yikes.

just like our list, I’m not interested, really do not even care…….

I'll be playing videogames or watching a movie instead. Anything else than the mauling this will be.

Dees might break the record for inside 50s this week.

Dees looking a little weary hoping they rest 10

Can we just forfeit? Would make the weekend so much more enjoyable and not waste a few hours on Sunday.

The side we are sending out on a weekly basis is as good as forfeiting anyway. “

And then there’s this masterpiece

"This is going to be Max Gawn when NMFC name their team this week.

I WAS VERY PROUD TO BE APPOINTED ENGLAND CAPTAIN. I WENT FOR THE TOSS WEARING MY WHITES & ENGLAND BLAZER. VIV RICHARDS CAME OUT WEARING A BOB MARLEY

T-SHIRT, SURFING SHORTS &FLIP-FLOPS. AS AN ENGLAND CAPTAIN SHOULD TO READ OUR TEAM SHEET TO THE OPPOSING CAPTAIN1 GOT NO FUTHER THAN FOUR NAMES

WHEN VIV SAID

"PLAY WHO YOU WANT. MAN.AIN'T GONNA MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE"

For years North were our bogey team. When we were notionally strong and they were mid table it was usually a loss.

I'm not feeling much sympathy but I can understand their pique with losing Horne Francis

Agree. My son is a North supporter and for years I took him to Melb vs North games. I can remember losing time after time so I also have no sympathy for them. I do agree they drew the short straw re JHF and understand their angst about it.

At least Jane’s son is a footy fan. My three boys are hipster [censored]-ers who think only the biggest bogans are into footy. All good though, I’m proud of my boganism and I only pay $1 for a coffee (at 7/11. It’s fine once you get it past the gag reflex) whereas they pay $6 for a skinny, soy, almond, whatever, whatever latte. Joke’s on them. 😁

FMD WCW !!!!

Do you have a pallet for a palate ?  That coffee from 7/11 can be barely be termed swill .

Even calling it cat's [censored] is offensive to cats.

Exactly. We had years of suffering at their hands excluding that magnificent  day in Sept 87 when we got some retribution.  But please no sympathy for the underdogs. North’s  glory years were built on their opportunistic recruiting with the short lived 10 year rule and subsequent ruthless recruiting methods interstate and country. They don’t deserve any favours.

I feel sorry for North. But losing Horne-Francis might not have happened if the club had been a properly functioning bottom-of-the ladder team rather than a hot mess. In addition, they didn't lose him for nothing (although I can't recall what they did get in return).

They were stupid enough to draft a player who made it pretty clear he didn't want to go there. They only have themselves to blame.

I'm not sure which is my worst North memory: either that time in the "90s when we kicked the first five goals of the day, endured appalling umpiring only for bloody Schimma to get on the end of a points kick in on the members wing and launch the winning goal from 50 metres with the siren sounding as the ball soared towards the goal...OR that time in Tassie not so long ago when, last game of the year, Nathan Jones coughed up a turnover with 20 seconds to go for them to register the winning goal with again, no time on the clock.

Whatever, they had a 17-win streak against us that ended only a few years ago. Since, we've won five of six. There's a long way to go to even the score and punishment is in order. I only hope we don't relax and allow them some dignity.

(PS Ernie, you omitted their slightly scam recruitment of Carey-Longmire that was the foundation of their second successful era.)

The much recommended book Between The Flags by Ian Munro provides many examples of the wheeling and dealing of recruiters during the 70s and 80s.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
