PREGAME: Rd 21 vs North Melbourne

Good luck to you if you can get anything out of those selections.

So who are the 4 interchange and 1 sub?

Petty is a certainty (doh)

Sparrow for mid-field rotations (rather than Harmes)
Tomlinson
Hibberd

(or is that too may backs?)

Smith is the perfect sub

Spargo will be kept out by the form of Chandler

Grundy is destined to be an emergency every game

That is probably the way it will barring an injury prior to game time

They must have liked Jordon's game last week.

Jordon was a bit quiet last week but has been good at playing specific roles since Clarry has been out.

There’s more to footy than stats alone

Poor Taj I thought he started all right. He was a bit quiet last week but I think of the chances Neal Bullen, kozzie, even spargo and JJ have had over the season.

Of course nth bring back Cunnington. The guy that always manages to find the ball against us.

I think Jordon is a lock until Clarry returns. I want Hibberd in for Harmes, but I don't think we've ever played that many defenders together.

In: sparrow, spargo

Out: harmes, Taj

Tigers have put the cue in the rack. Martin and Cotchin out.... Managed

Lucky Bulldogs

Cotchin isn't best 22 anymore. It's passed him. Champion but I forgot he was in the ground last week

I think they have named him to give him a bit of confidence, he's had a tough year with selection. I think they will see what he brings and if he plays like he did again I suggest he'll be dropped. Probably will anyway to make way for clarry

Spargo and Chandler plsy different roles..

I suspect spargo comes in for Woey, who had been playing spargo's role.

I am OK with Woey being dropped. Had a run, knows what to expect next year, or perhaps if an injury occurs to one of the wingers/mids before the season ends.

A chance Tomlinson takes the sub position (or Harmes), as they need to get some game time into Joel.

Hibbo slots into the backline, unless they decide to keep Chandler.

Sparrow is Woey's replacement.

A no to Grundy and Spargo from me.

Same as last week other than Sparrow for Woey??

Petty on the bench. Lol.

Even WORSE Spargy Pants in the squad!?? He was very very ordinary last week in the half he played! What about rewarding guys like Andy Moniz Wakefield who was sensational in a loss last! Time to reward FORM Goody!

Goody did say Grundy won’t play this week so not sure why he is named - emergency I guess. I favour him being on the bench to share ruck duties against their two rucks.

We could, if we play Bowey at half forward… I know it won’t happen but a girl can dream of those sexy kicks going inside 50

My tip for the bench:

Spargo

Sparrow

Petty

Hibberd

Smith (sub)

Meaning woey, harmes and tomo dropped.

Edited by binman

Petty listed 8th on our extended i/c bench.   What???????

Goodwin always playing games.

The eight bench players are named in order of jumper numbers from lowest to highest.

You can tie me to an anthill and smear my ears with jam if Petty isn't in the starting 22.

i like the handling of Woey. given a run of games. has shown something but has plenty to work on. bring on 2024 for the young man

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
