POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Richmond

WHAT. A. WIN.
I think we found our forward set up.

Harrison Coleman, amazing!

An intense high pressure cracking game !!!

The toiges did us for pressure and intensity early and had our measure.

But .... along came Max ... big bad Max the mountain!!!

You will NEVER see a better performance in the ruck - EVER !!!!

A number of other top performances but I must single out Petty. He played more like  a forward than any other forward ( bar Fitta ) than we have played this year.

A very tough game - fortunate to have Norf next week.

There is a feeling in the Bitter nethers that says, " this is our year" !

GO DEES !!!!!

Petty and Melksham unbelievable

McVee is the find of the year for the Dees. Sublime skills and composure with the ball. A couple of those kicks in the last five minutes we’re clutch.

I’m starting to believe. That last quarter was very reminiscent of late ‘21.

Fitter, better, for longer. Sound familiar?

Never saw Petty kicking 6, and Maxy what an effort. Picked the boys up and carried them in the second half.

Put the big fella on ice for a week, no need to fly him to tassie and play spuds. Grundy can take the load for a week

How good was Petty! I was sceptical of playing him forward but I've changed my mind. Everything he touched turned to gold.

All in all, I'm thrilled with that win. That was a very high pressure game and we held up brilliantly. Still got another four games left but I'm much more confident heading into the finals than I was this time last year.

Holy [censored] that was one exciting game to watch!

We just griiiiiiinnnnd them away!

Petty and JVR were [censored] unreal.

Maxy on that performance alone should be a 7 time All Australian. That was [censored] nuts

Give Melksham another contract. He's best 22 for the rest of the year.

Go you [censored] dees!

I doubted Petty.

Im glad Im wrong!

Petty, Gawn magicians - and the rest of the team, led by Viney, would not give in to the Tigers resurgence and endeavour. What a great, appropriate pre-finals game. ANB consistently proved his worth in a linking team and paused play at perfect moments for team coverage. One could go on, but the main theme was 'team, team, team' and it was bloody brilliant.

Max Gawn is a legend of the Melbourne Football Club

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

After a stunning victory over the Saints in the first round of the Season the Demons head over to Perth to take on the Dockers who choked in their first match against the Cats. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
