Have we officially found our full forward?

Insanely premature to make this call off the back of one game, particularly given heโ€™s struggled (IMO) previously.

His last game up forward he kicked 4 in a half then went off injured.ย

Petty reads the ball flight so well.ย

Interested to see who goes out for Fritch when fit. canโ€™t be a small, and Melksham is playing some influential footy.ย

Presumably track plays more midfield.

Marquee forwards are nearly impossible to land and cost a fortune, the idea we could pluck one to begin with is hard.

That said, Iโ€™m not turning down Jezza Cameron or Lynch on below market money because of one amazing Petty game.

But unless that happens we should aim for another quality swing man or good depth talls with scope for both ends.

Petty and JVR have at least provided reason not to panic and pay massive overs for questionable players.

Thatโ€™s the nicest and most positive post you have written DS. Very frugal and kind of you. Aaawwww, you are a softie after all ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿคฃ

Our forward structure has been addressed over the past 3 weeks (105, 97, 130). Petty has replaced BBB, and certainly looked like a huge upgrade. Fritta for Woey, and our forwardline should be locked in.ย

No Grundy or Spargo for the rest of the year.

Why on earth are we being offered jez or lynch below market value? These sorts of hypotheticals are ridiculous.ย

You're talking rubbish troll

Yes, Iโ€™m trolling because I said this a premature call.ย

Iโ€™m excited about the Combination of Petts , Roo and Melkyย

Fritter comes back and we have Kozzie and Chandler looking good too.

Stick with that for the rest of the year now

Never said we were. Just answering the OPs question.

Petty 1st tall

JVR 2nd tall

Fritsch Half forward?

Is it fair to say we are now set with this forward set up with Fritsch the only inclusion here on??

ย

I'm going to say yes. Contests like no other, always reads it well and gets the good sit. I'm yet to see him get caught under it the ball. Most importantlyย he kicks straight and hasn't overcomplicated his routine yet, shades of the T-mac 2017 change.

This is the boat that takes us there for mine.

First time in a long time we have got another leviathan taking massive pack grabs and kicking truely and snapping truely off his non preferred.

We have another Larrikin as a Power Forward.๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ†

Top 2 just sitting there to be taken.

JVR and Petty both have swaggerย

essential ingredient in key forwards

The jury is still out on whether Fritsch will be back this year dd.

He'll be back.

Not ready. Be patient.

Agree he is 2025 IMO.ย

Definitely in 2023โ€ฆย

I hope longer term because they are so hard to procure and very costly to acquire.

My one question would be on the craft that was shown but we were dumping it in there and he worked with what we gave him and thatโ€™s all you can ask for.ย

The other thing to think about is in a forward line with Fritsch and Petracca - maybe a longer, โ€˜dumpierโ€™ option is preferredโ€ฆย

It was great to see.

What do we do with Jefferson?

the answer is clearly obvious - delist.

Can I just say wowza on this Petty performance! That was some kind of performance.ย

Some of his contested marking was absolutely nuts and then his ability to provide pressure when the ball hits the ground is first class.

I mean realistically take your pick between Petty and JVR

Have we potentially just saved huge cap space in going out and buying a marquee forward?? I think so now!

I laughed at the posts saying he couldnโ€™t play forward and even more at the posts that said he was a poor kick for goal.

However, we still need to draft another key forward and then we will have 4 key forwards we can use.

We develop him like we did with JVR.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
