So now they have Wardlaw, Sheezel and Reid. Hell that’s going to get them a premiership surely?

+ LDU

Early premiership? They'd dominate the TAC Cup but it's going to be a fair long time until they're a premiership contender. Need a defence and another tall forward.

Reid to North, sheesh they’re going to be good

So it pays off to be a basket case of a club for 4 years 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️.

I don't mind the idea of a draft lottery ala NBA.

Sad to see Reaid going to North… Or is he still gettable? Hawthorn did rebuild via multiple high picks in the one draft… Clarkson possibly do the same here by trading out Pick 1.

Anyway, Dees need to get hold of GC Pick 5.

Duursma (Pick 4) & GC Pick 5 (Best Available)

Trade for a Key Position Forward. Grundy to Port for Georgiadis…?

after all that

it was always a pipedream. let's take our picks to the draft and let JT work his magic.

Not if WC had finished last as they should 😭.

Pick 4 and 6 this year was gettable for us, then it would be a matter of how keen WC is to trade.

Get the Tassie kid, he looks very, very good

As long as the AFL don't try and pilfer him when Tassie comes in ala Scully

Worked for us.

That's the way the comp is designed, would never want to see a draft lottery, NBA is totally different to AFL with only 5 starting players.

Brayden George still to come with LDU, Simpkin, Thomas and Larkey up front.

Building a very good side.

I can see a few injuries before their game this week.

The bad news is we aren't getting Reid.

The good news is the league doesn't have to give in to North's woe is me sooking for priority picks. No more Ben McKay pick 2 compo. No more nonsense with Colonel Sanders.

We should get a fair crack at pick 4 or pick 5, which will then ease out at least one spot with Walter from the Suns but that's better than McKay compo and Sanders off the board.

Ziebell already got the retired/assaulted. LDU out last week. Shouldn't be hard to add a few more.

It’s the reason we won a flag.

Hard to see FA compo or priority picks being ahead of the Eagles. But they will be gifted Sanders some how.

Exactly why they should change the system, now that we’ve already been able to take advantage of it! Stop anyone else from doing the same!

We had a pair of number 1 picks and didn't win anything.

We had picks 2, 3 (which would shouldn't have got but we did deserve a top 10 pick for Chip) and traded up from pick 6 I believe for pick 4 to get Oliver and we win a flag.

If anything that franks the argument that a lottery that still sees the bottom 4 clubs prioritised but doesn't guarantee the top pick to anyone is a good idea.

I mean, assuming we didn't stuff their development we would've had a far better side in the early 10's with Dusty and Nic Nat than our pick 1's.

1. Reid - North

2. Walter - Gold Coast

3. Curtin - West Coast

Dorks would choose from Duursma, McKercher or Watson and we'd have a pick of the other 2 as I can see Freo's pick landing just after Dorks

2 very handy picks if we get the Suns pick 4/5. That’ll give an immediate boost  to our list.

Need two athletes with speed and skill that’ll help with ball movement and transition in the coming years.

North and Freo will end in 18th and 15 th spot respectively , this improve our position of getting no.1 draft pick thou a long shot. What would we need to give up Pick 5, pick 15 and next years 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder for a Grundy deal.

Our alternative would be get Caddy and Read

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
