Saints made it very difficult but we absorbed everything they threw at us and got the win.

Goal kicking much improved. Trac accurate for once. Liked Melks game. Steven May very good.

Taj did well on his debut.

We won’t get ahead of ourselves but that win takes the pressure off so hopefully now we can kick on, build some form and hopefully have a dip at the flag

Go Dees

Couldn't understand the negativity on the Game Day thread - it was a high pressure game.

The Aints were fighting us for a top four spot and the came hard at us. We absorbed it and kicked a winning score against a good defensive side.

We did enough and ... FFS .... took the 4 points.

And ....

Woey - a very promising debut.

BBB - good signs and added a positive factor to our forward line.

S. May - You will not see a better defender's game. BOG !!!

Yes very true, however they were 3 men down from the 1st half. We should have ripped them apart in the 4th Quarter.

We did what we had to do against a very tough opponent. A win is a win is a win and so forth.

They are the most clueless side I have seen regarding how to play on, transferring the ball and quick movement, lever is a moment killer has no idea how to move the ball quickly, players first thought is to take the player on then get caught, poor performance beating a side who had 3 players down for most of the game.

Are we in premiership form? No. But we kicked straight, we had space and movement in the forward line, we found some easier goals than we have in a long 5-6 weeks.

Trac forward worked, but without Clarry leaves us exposed in the midfield so Saints got some clearances they shouldn’t.

Gawndy still worries me, Brodie isn’t a contested marking forward and Max isn’t 100% fit for mine.

Kozzie quiet, doesn’t worry me. Effort is there. ANB did some good things, ain’t the problem either.

edit: BBB good for mine, he’s past chasing half backs up the ground but he leads and creates space, good disposal and should’ve had 2 goals.

A good win against a good opponent. Very happy with that performance. Saints forward line is dangerous and their midfield matches ours. Winning against them shows we can beat Collingwood, Brisbane and Port Adelaide in finals if we play like this or better.

Tbh I thought we defended and attacked well. Last week was a hard slog and we still had some legs at the end which is a good sign.

People put too much into numbers on the bench. If coached well it can work to your benefit. Saints threw everything at us because they all had momentum and extra time on field.

Loved Woewodin's attack on ball. Same as McVee and Spargo.

Pickett had the worst game of his career.

Looking forward to pumping Brisbane next week.

We need to increase about 15% to be a decent chance.

Does anyone have a contact in the light tower?

Yeah I'd agree the execution isn't too clean when playing on through the middle. Too many handballs to shoe laces and miss-cues

Disgusting win.

Backline did some excellent defending but geez they have no idea how they want to move the ball. Credit to them for actually switching it a few times but no cohesive plan. And the panicking on contested loose balls is just embarrassing from all involved.

With Tracc playing forward it was pretty much Viney and a VFL midfield and that includes both rucks. All our mids had a go but they just aren’t very good. Gus and JJ had some moments at least.

Forward line showed signs of life but Melksham still looks long odds to actually do anything more than a little cameo. Brown completely cooked after a half. Grundy’s a waste of a body down there and Gawn not much better.

That's a better win than many Demonlanders are giving it credit for. 4th v 5th, lots of pressure. Not perfect, and not our best, but a good win.

F50 play looked as good as it has all year. If BBB wasn't blocked all night it would have looked even better.

Fumbling mostly fixed.

Horror handballing unfortunately back in a big way.

May and our backline are immortals.

Not sure why we kicked long to so many forward contests where Kozzie, Spargo and ANB were the targets.

Ground ball and spread from contests continues to be a worry. The Saints killed us at these 2 things tonight.

My god the negativity on this site is too much sometimes… you realise they were fifth right? And any impact for fewer subs would’nt have played a part until later 4Q.

Was it perfect? No. But there were still things to like including some awesome individual performances.. and straight kicking.

Enjoy the wins when they come people. Yeesh

Never before have I worried much about the commentary but Luke Darcy's barracking for the "brave Saints" was so damn irritating it drove me to the mute button.

Yes, if they'd won against the injury gods it would have been historic but wait until it happens FGS.

And don't comment on any of the dodgy umpiring at any cost. Since when was an over the head handpass penalised as a throw? As in, almost never, until Spargo fired one off tonight. Elsewhere I've moaned about the non-free to Grundy directly in front of goal when he appeared manhandled by a bouncer.

Some good stuff in there - Sparrow has grown these last few weeks, young Woey showed promise, May, Lever, Petty and Salem were brilliant and Trac should have gained confidence from that. Brown was better and threatened. Glass half full.

Geese that win felt a lot like a loss.

Thank god for May and Trac.

Grundy and Gawn need to take a long hard look at them selves letting Marshall completely dominate that game.

time for Kozz to head to Casey

It can’t just be Pickett mate, I’d add Brayshaw, Gawn to a solid block in the VFL to get some form back.
