We are now very much on top. The wet ground and the poor excuse for an AFL standard oval kept Geeling in it.

Stop the 3-4 small in close handballs.

We don't crumb packs well at all. Bruhn, Close and Miers are a cut above our crumbing players.

Salem, Hibberd, Grundy, Smith and Rivers playing well.

Please stop kicking it straight to Stewart and Guthrie.

Agree, we are well on top - just need to show it on the scoreboard. Can we swing Petty forward. Either way, subbing out a tall for Spargo should help.

Good/decent: Hunter, Smith, Salem, Grundy, Rivers and Viney.

Bad: Brayshaw, Tracc, Max, the umpiring and whoever is playing on Rowan!

I reckon we've smashed them pretty much all game. Keep this up and I've no doubt we'll win.

We will win this. Smith BOG

Ummm, it was disappointing....

And Salem cops $3k for tackling a bloke and winding him

We improved that quarter and upped the pressure. I expect us to step up a bit more this next quarter.

We will have to if we are to overcome the rubbish umpire's decisions.

This quarter is ours.

More concerned with their non decisions

Geelong is playing from behind, and using the soft or close to the line scragging. Why doesn't the one who wants and get to the ball first, get an advantage anymore? Becoming more of a defenders game, if the umps don't pay those in the backs, push and shove 5 meters away from ball when in a stoppage, and holding.

C'mon Tracc, run over them.

My pregame post said tight to half time ..... and then away we go

I'm sticking with that prediction

I tipped us by 20. If we come out composed and continue to lock that ball in our 50, we win for sure.

Making a contest. All you can do in these conditions

The bigger bench and a sub helps to make the 37 that beats the 35.

Umpires

Nick Foot (2), Daniel Johanson (6), Brett Rosebury (8), Nathan Williamson (22)

No. 6…..he’s terrible

I wouldn't be surprised if Jeremy Cameron has a busted jaw, or worse.

Agree.

Our small forwards not getting near it and entry into F50 worse than disgusting.

Max is a fantastic captain but there have been times when he's needed to forget the umpires and man the hell up.

This is one of them

Smith knockers are quiet.

Jon Ralph said it would probably be a fine. Dunstall said Stewart looked at Jack, saw him holding his shoulder then pushed him over and said he does stupid things at times, Joey said it's what the AFL I'd trying to crack down on and Sarah Jones said it's not a good look and you wouldn't want to see it in junior football

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
