By adjusting Casey Fields to Alphabet Stadium proportions for training this week all they needed to do is draw a straight line from pocket to pocket on the outer wing.

When they decided to rebuild the entire place did nobody think to move it 5 metres to the left.

Whinging about Kardinia Park being narrow. Keep it going, keep it going. | Page 4 | BigFooty Forum

i'd prefer they move it 5 kilometres to bass strait

Agree, then there could be new talking point for the footy media every year -

Gerard Whately: with modern footballers and boots being so much better, and the distances they can kick, they really needed to give the goals some protection.

Dunstall: i don't' agree Gerard, i'm traditionalist and having row of gum trees 30 metre out directly in front of the goals that players have to kick over just doesn't feel right - what's next a water hazard?

Gerard: it's not 1992, the game must evolve.

David King: according to Champion Data 38% of all kicks from the 53 metre mark have 16% chance of scoring which is higher than 15% and so the data is clear on this - we need more data to be clear on this. But to be clear i think Freo will finish top 4 this year, because they play the gum tree so well.

Dunstall - didn't you say last week Freo would finish bottom of the ladder?

King- yes, but i thought they were planting the Nyssa sylvatica not the Tristaniopsis laurina

You forgot one thing…

YOU GOT BEATEN BY WHAT YOU KNOW! ALWAYS GET BEATEN BY WHAT YOU DONT KNOW.

An infection that requires IV antibiotics and a relatively long hospital stay for these days would be quite severe and debilitating. He must have had a whopping fever, weight loss and risk of septicaemia and internal organ damage. His appears the type of infection that killed many healthy people in the days before advanced antibiotics. I believe the severity has been downplayed somewhat by the club.

Yep. Probably would have done in a fair share of dlanders and 50 years ago quite a few. That said, Go back 100 years and diarrhoea used to knock of a lot. The 1800s was a brave time to pass wind.

All of which makes me laugh anew at suggestions Oliver was soft for not playing with blisters.

From the afl injury page (such that is):

McStay has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Adelaide and will miss a few more weeks after suffering an infection in the finger he had surgery on back in April

My take is that we are confident enough in our midfield and  Sparrow to cover for Oliver, that we're giving him another week off. 😀

Essentially, we don't rate them...🤷‍♂️

Yeah maybe, but more my concern is that having an infection requiring an otherwise elite fitness human to have 5 days in hospital probably knocked him around a bit...

Hopefully recovery quick and fulsome

Read that Danger field stated it is a good time to meet Melbourne for Geelong to get back on track.

The hubris of this club grates me.  I hope Goody uses that as motivation to go after this mob.

Got seats in A10 at kardinia park. They were 50 bucks compared to most others that were 60 bucks. Does anyone know if that means they are restricted view? It didn't say that but still a tad concerned. Not sure if this is your area @FearTheBeard ??

I think you have to sit next to Daryl Somers

Was sitting beside a pool at Captain Cook's Hostel in Cairns watching this game.

Great game. Both Melbourne & Geelong were vying for a finals berth. Gary Ablett kicked 11 but Melbourne still won.

My ticket cost $90 + booking fee. I couldn't see any tickets below $80 that became available to the general public after the GFC members passed them back. Not sure how people were able to get cheaper ones.

Why would the afl play the last 2 premiers on a Thursday nite in Geelong with a stadium that has restricted attendance due to construction whilst the G is empty & deny more people seeing the game, not to mention playing at their home ground 2 years in a row!

If you are referring to his words on SEN, he said we were among the best teams and ‘taking on the best is something players and the club should run toward’… it’s hardly hubris. How can it be? We have won the last two important games against them and humbled them in a Prelim.

I've been there at least half a dozen times in the past years for Dees games. A10 is on the fence at the half forward flank. It's cold at night so rug up but the cheer squad sits here so you're in good company. The angle of seating is low which makes it hard to see the other side of the ground especially if there is someone tall sitting in front of you. But viewing is not  "restricted" by any structures as such. I've attached a couple of maps - hopefully they're helpful.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
