I know it's tempting fate even to mention it, but if we do play them in the GF I hope some enterprising lad or lass (paging @WalkingCivilWar@) creates a giant "7-1" banner to unfurl once the game is iced. IYKYK.

Being a massive soccer fan I find this a bit weird. Chanting doesn't mean the game's over. You just do it to support the team. We should do it when we're behind!!

I was specifically talking about the long Melbourne chant, Koz. I think it’s considered fitting for when the game is well and truly sewn up before the final siren. That’s when the likes of Collingwood do it. Another thing we do that divides the cheer squad is when we look certain to win, when there’s a minute left on the clock we sing Grand Old Flag. Some members love this, some not so much. We didn’t do it yesterday because doing the Melbourne chant then them getting so close shut us up real quick. 😂

In the zone there is Trac!!

I think he is actually just a nice guy though. Often see he and Clarrie put a hand out to help an oppo player up but don’t see many others doing the same.

Just looking at the Kayo mini - mid Q1 Brayshaw took a mark and was hit late on the top of the head by Maynard.

How was that not at least a 50?

Did Christian even look at it?

I'm holding judgement on that 'till I hear tracc confirm he was the one who was in the wrong.

Cox is a [censored].

SEN played a snippet from his podcast and he said in no uncertain terms that Trac had apologised to him and they’ve moved on.

So if he’s lying it’s incredibly blatant.

As for whatever censored word you used to describe him, I wholeheartedly agree.

Come on mate.

Both Daicos boys are as good as, if not better, than Sidebottom by foot, and Pendles was also turning it over under our pressure and defensive structure.

If we bring what we brought yesterday with goal kicking accuracy, we won't be beaten by Collingwood, no matter who they put on the park.

I'm not sure our MC will be as sure, AF ... we'll need to at least replicate our all over the ground pressure along with our defence being stellar again

I reckon they will learn a lot from the game (as losses often do) and they could easily be better prepared next time.  Sidebottom, De Goey & Elliott add a lot

Of course we were without Oliver, Petty & Bowey so we weren't at full strength either

It's more about can we stifle their system again and this time, kick well in front of goal?  Because we're going to have to do both next time up

As good as we were yesterday, we only won by a kick when we should have put them away earlier

If we'd thumped them yesterday, it may have set them back but they'll be thinking they can get us next time

As long as we finish the season well, we'll be almost certainly meeting them at some stage during the finals ... can't wait to play them again

I reckon the fact it was close, despite our clear dominance, will work in our favour @Macca, but only time will tell.

Especially if it 'papers over the cracks' for Collingwood

It also comes down to what else does McRae have? Does he have an ability to tweak his system or is it always just about run and gun?

What about the centre bounce that was recalled? Cox just smashed Gawn in the head. No free ball up Took him a few moments to get up

Or when he sunk his knees into Rivers on the ground.

He's a dirtbag.

And Gawn was constantly shepherded off the ball in the fwd line.

MELBOURNE defender Christian Salem has been fined for striking Collingwood forward Harvey Harrison during the King's Birthday blockbuster.

Salem can accept a $3,000 sanction with an early plea for striking Harrison, with the incident graded as careless conduct, medium impact and body contact.

I’m sure Harrison deserved it. Money well spent.

The expression "all duck or no dinner" essentially means all or nothing.

Seems the donk on the right just discovered he has a middle one and is quite impressed with his ability to flex that new digit

Perhaps someone in the DA could pop on a sparkly gold jacket at that point?

Pretty courageous stuff getting physical when you're 2 and a half metres tall. What a tool.

We don’t have anyone of that ilk in our cheer squad. ❤️💙

After having players rubbed out 3-4 weeks in a row we will gladly take a 3k fine this week.

Isn't there some sort of demerit system though?

If he fronts up again this year, the fine will count against him? Is that correct.

Wouldn't put MC lining him up for finals.

The guy needs to be sacked.

I don't think that's the case anymore but happy to be proven wrong.

I think he needed to count his fingers to work out which was his middle finger. His thumb confused him and wasn’t sure until he looked to his right and saw his son doing it. Then he got it…. Well done Sir…

Saying Brayshaw is only just in front of Harmes & Jordon is unfair though.  And quite laughable

He is a miles better player than those 2 and in front of about another 10 players in the team

Spargo, ANB, Kozzie, Tomlinson, Smith, JVR, Hibberd, McVee, Chandler & Sparrow are all behind Brayshaw in the pecking order

The club seems to think so too as it was only recently that he was signed to a lucrative long term deal

Outright 5th in the Demonland award and that's with a heavy bias against the bloke

And he'd be doing very well in the B & F

It's like he has to play a standout A grade game to get any credit (just 2 weeks ago that happened)

Post too long for you? Bad luck

I said he should play midfield and I was therefore comparing him to those competing for a role in the midfield.

You said you didn't have time to read the article on DE% I referred you too but you've persisted in making subsequent long posts.  A little more listening and a little less talking and you might learn something.

Just indulging in a little shameless boasting right here. 🤭

We are routinely complimented by the other clubs’ cheer squads on our size and overall look. The above pics were taken after the teams’ first goals yesterday.

These short clips were all taken yesterday. We are super proud.

Cheer squad of the year surely.

Brayshaw could play as a pure midfielder but he does a lot of good work in traffic in that area between just behind the middle and deep half back

From one side of the ground to the other. It's where we employ the press and he's right in the thick of it ... usually dishing off quick handpasses

That's his role and it's vital.  In soccer terms he's playing as a defensive midfielder or as a holding midfielder

Plus he plays tall so he competes well in the air and also, he reads the play well

Now, as for the errors, I'd agree they were terrible but once he settled back into his normal role, he was terrific

Another longish post but his role takes a bit of explaining

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
