There there come to daddy

JJ or Taj?

Head says JJ is the safe choice, but we need zip and energy around the ball.

Jesus, easy on the razor blades peeps. We will hold our own.

We can still win without Clarry. We just need to be cleaner with the footy especially in front of the big sticks.

JJ for mine.  Collingwood love to outnumber at contests so we need someone who can get from contest to contest for 4 quarters.  Id argue thats one of JJ best attributes.

If they do go JJ I’d have him tag Pendles fairly aggressively too.

The focus on Nick Daicos has never been right to me. Don’t fire the rest of Collingwood up by attempting to get in to him. Try to corral him from the corridor and get him the other way.

Pendles is the one to attempt to unsettle his composure with the ball

Agree.  For all his stats and efficiency, Daicos isn't an elite score involvement player. Presumably as he often gets multiple touches from just kick ins. JDG and Pendles are their 2 main score involvement players. Keep Pendlebury minded and I could see our back half getting on top.

The Geelong game's still two weeks away.  Clarry should be Mars Bar* ready for that one.

Just a variation on the tired and overdone "Cherry Ripe" cliche.

Taj is no doubt on track DS but is KB the right game for his debut?

I always have nightmares with what we did to JW on his first.

That's no slight on Taj but it's a huge occasion with heaps of phyiscality.  Most AFL H&A games are but another 6 months or so in the gym would serve him well i feel.

Aside from that i have no doubt he'll be trialled in the zippy outsider role at some point in the near future.  Signs are very good since he returned from the finger prob.  Just a matter of time and timing.

No to Laurie yes to Woey. I dont think we can win without Clarry! WCW whats your mail on Clarries foot ?

Laurie has had a solid block of VFL form and can fill gaps forward or on the wing. Woey is probably a little more dynamic.

Could be a positive for Clarrys hamstring and set him up for the balance of the year. If we can pull off a win, it will be huge!

jj to replace harmes in his usual sub role

Yep

I would add Brown (or even Scache) in for Joel.  Scache can also handle some ruck work in the middle and down forward.  Not bad at ground level either.

Need a KTF lead up to take the heat off JVR and let him roam closer to goal.  Even if Brown or Scache played mostly as a decoy here.

Moore on JVR would be a poor match up for JVR at this early stage and as much as i would love Joel to get another chance, aside from a few contests and tackles, he had very little influence/impact as a 2nd tall forward last week from what i witnessed.

We had 65 inside 50s to 41 in our second game against them last year and 3 more scoring shots for a 7 point loss.

They couldn’t miss that night, they were 7 straight at one stage.

Also, they kicked 6 straight against us on QB in the last. Add that to the 7.0 in the R21 game and it’s 13.0 in two and half quarters.

They kicked 10.1 from set shots, and 15 goals from 41 Inside 50s. It was  just one of those days. You win 99 pout of 100 games with the amount of posession we had that day.

I doubt footy shows have become any worse. Your declining interest in footy media may be less about the quality of the shows themselves and more about the passage of time. I know that I would consume almost anything football-related in 2021 and while we were reigning premiers in 2022. Now that we've been displaced, I'm less interested in all forms of footy media.

The Footy Shows were pretty ordinary back in the day. Wide World of Sports with Lou Richards and Jack Dyer was hardly known for it's in-deppth analysis. About on par with the current Channel 9 Sunday show which is a waste of space.

I quite like the AFL Round So Far on Sundays. Kane Cornes with Riley Beveridge. Footy Classified is definitely better on Mondays than Wednesdays. I can't watch anything with Eddie McGuire. A man who is so fond of his own opinion without any justification for being so. And his Collingwood bias is unbearable. Also Damien Barrett is on and I wear it as a badge of honour that I never watch or listen to anything he's involved with. The most superficial 'journalist' around imo (apart from Nathan Brown who is just a gambling promoter).

It’s definitely not the hammy. It’s the blister. The infection is under control but they don’t want him playing until he’s 100% right with a view to the pointy end of the season.
Btw, I found out last night that he wouldn’t be playing. There was no way I was gonna divulge anything on here, for obvious reasons. I didn’t wanna be the cause of a group-conniption. 😁

PS bloody Clarrie! Didn’t even tell his family he was in hospital. Michelle and Steve (his parents) only found out when they saw it on the news! 😂

Okay, thanks to you both, I'm stepping away from the ledge now

No Clarry and no Petty for the most important H&A game of the season. Typical rubbish Melbourne luck.

Are you ever positive,

Excluding that period between September 2021 and June 2022

Just made the mistake of flicking through Wednesday's Footy Classified. Awful. Match Preview of Carlton vs Essendon. Rightly they criticised Carlton's slow ball play against Melbourne. Then they comment about how wonderful Essendon's attacking play was and conclude that it will be an easy Essendon win. Essendon had a lucky 6 point win against the 2nd worst team in the comp. I'm not saying Carlton will win but where's the recognition of Essendon's poor perfornance. Then Melbourne vs Collingwood. Melbourne's poor conversion vs Colingwood's free-flowing game (against West Coast Eagles!). Conclusion: an easy win to the best team in the comp. So superficial. Don't do a preview unless you're going to do it properly!

Unsure who this change is for - Clarrie didn't play last week. Harmes needs replacing as sub and that should be JJ. Otherwise it's only Bowey as mandatory out and Hibberd is confirmed in.

Remember when Brock McLean was a late out in the 2006 QB game? I remember thinking we'd need to play the game of our lives. We did.

I’m realistic.
They are in much better form than us and the one area we could get them in was the contest. Without Oliver that becomes much harder.
We lost to Freo and struggled to beat Carlton without him. Both those sides are literal trash compared to the Pies.

As I said, probable loss. Not a definite loss. But to expect that losing Oliver won’t hurt our chances is frankly delusional.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
