I was feeling edgy about this Friday’s game and would have been happy to get the four points. Now I’m angry and just want us to smash Carlscum.

Insane that Cerra got off and the 17 others didn’t. Some with less dangerous tackles too.

This season in general has been ****house. Not only has the tribunal and umpiring been poor, but the quality of football and general excitement from watching games has been rock bottom. Can’t remember a less interesting season. Great job AFL.

The AFL really want Carltank to stay relevant and alive in this year's season.

That's a disgraceful decision.  Hopefully Hickey doesn't have permanent damage.  Where's the duty of care?

Unbelievable, and yet is anyone really surprised, corrupt system.

Newman, Hewett, Cerra and potentially Cripps will all miss.

I reckon Cerra will be successful in his appeal. It wasn't a sling tackle and Hickey hit the ground the way he did because of the way he fell with Cerra underneath him.

And the same thing happened to 10+ other players this season who did not get off on appeal and missed games.
But somehow, miraculously, a Carlton player is let off.

The Parker ban was upheld. Same week. Same tackle. Different jumper.

Gotta hand it to them. Carlton have the best legal representation in the league.

Cerra ... lol. Is anyone seriously surprised?

Cripps will play.

Cerra if it were Byron or Balls Grinter...6 weeks! PARK OF AFL

Will some ask Gil in the presser “is this presser just a smokescreen to let Cerra’s appeal decision to get through unnoticed? “

We all knew the outcome.  The AFL is on a mission re head knocks, but it’s compromised when ……..

Yet Hunter who stood his ground went!

WHAT A FRIGGEN CORRUPT SYSTEM!

I'd suspect Carlton fans are saying similar RE the attention were getting in the media too

With all due respect, we’re getting about 5% of the media attention of Carlton.

He knows how to handle the tribunal, he makes them an offer they can't refuse.

First time in my entire life, I don’t want to go to the footy! The AFL, the big clubs, the corrupt system, the umpires etc. Rules for some and not others. It’s shameful, biased and dishonest.

Brown paper bag job?

From AFL website:

The Tribunal panel, led by chairman Jeff Gleeson, found it wasn't a dangerous tackle.

"Cerra only has a light grip on Hickey's arms. They are not truly pinned," Gleeson said.

"Hickey could use one or both of his arms."

Tom Sparrow’s tackle did not pin Day’s arms. Day could have used one or both of his arms. But it was deemed a dangerous action being a sling.

Sparrow is not the only one. A large group of players have been suspended for similar actions when arms were not pinned.  But suddenly it’s now a relevant, if not determining, factor.

And what happened to the infamous duty of care this time around?

It’s really hard to have any faith in this system. I’d go one step further and say it’s a blight on the game that there is no consistency and certain players/clubs seem to get treated differently.

The Blues must have an influencer or two of note who have the ears of some of the top brass.

Too many 'cute' outcomes in their favour to be coincidental

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
