I think the best thing about monitoring Fremantle's ladder position is the contrast it provides with the feeling that our own destiny is in our own hands. Thinking about the Demons, I think only of our game and maybe take a glance at how the top-4 is progressing. Thinking about Fremantle requires tipping half the round!

Gold Coast over West Coast (Death ride +1)

Richmond to upset Geelong (Death ride +2)

Sydney to splatter Fremantle (Death ride +3)

Port over North (dreams have limits)

Melbourne over Hawthorn (by >20 goals)

Brisbane over Essendon (meh)

Carlton over the Bulldogs (but really, coin toss here)

Adelaide over St Kilda (high drama!)

Collingwood over West Sydney (Death ride -1)

puddy tatts missing 10 of their premiership 23 from last year, and this will be the first game since they recruited clangerfilled that neither he nor duckwood are running out there for them

Net gainย

There's a big logjam at present with 7 teams on 18-24 points. Other than one of Carlton or the Dogs falling off the pace I'm not anticipating much movement in the logjam.

A Swans loss would end any chance of top 4 you would think

Other than the Carlton Dogs game, Saturday is going to be a day of one sided thrashings IMO.

And yes I am backing Sydney to smash Freo. Season on the line for both, but Freo have Swans, Cats and then Us. They are done already.

Geelong

Freo ( my big upset )

Would love to see the Cats beaten tonight. It's unlikely though.

Dogs will easily account for Carlton i reckon. doggies form much better the last few weeks.

No chance GWS beat the pies.

the Cats haveย named their worst midfield for 20 years.ย

aside from Duncan whoโ€™s going to win the ball?

Taranto will go nuts. if Tigers can kick a decent score they can win this

Cats are 2-2 at the G.ย

Am i convincing anyone?!?

I reckon any side currently on 12 points or under can start making their Mad Monday plans if they don't win this weekend.ย

Tigers dropped Cumberland whoโ€™s actually been kicking a few. The last 2 weeks theyโ€™ve been woeful. Last week early in the 3/4 the Eagles were up by 3. ย Yes Geelongโ€™s mids look weakened but surely too much up fwd and down back.

Tigers best is very good. Theyโ€™ve just only brought it for a half against Carlton, against us and now for one quarter against Geelong so far this season. If they keep this going Geelong will be in for a big fight.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
