What compensation does the MFC get from the AFL for all this faffing around?

The satisfaction of knowing David slayed Goliath.

Typo

The rationale for overturning the conviction is epic, basically says:

dear AFL, you probably should’ve updated your laws to reflect what you want to happen, instead of trying to use a confused and innocent future-premiership CHF’s actions to do the job you should’ve probably done over summer.

Can someone send this great result to that young fella at the Suns !!!!!

The statement read by Kellam is a warning to the rest of the comp for an impending rule change in this area and this show was all about preparing us for the inevitable.

So they found that what we said on Tuesday night was correct.

So the reason is

The Tribunal is not allowed to make up rules that don't exist...

Ffs the Tribunal is a joke

The only ones celebrating harder than us are the lawyers whose picnic is full of caviar and Grange.

At least get them Penfold. Support the sponsors.

Spot on. Appeals board rules that the Tribunal is not permitted to make up the rules as it goes along...

Cudos to the Club for how they handled this. Did not back down and showed strong support to JVR.

That will help culture and show the players they are always supported by their club and fans.

Don't underestimate how all of the boys would be feeling now, especially JVR.

Sad it took 2 hours to decide that

They didn’t get to rule on the second reason for appeal

But that’s the AFL’s modus operandi

Cam Pedersen got absolutely DESTROYED one game in a marking contest by an errant spoil from Daniel Merrett of the Brisbane Lions and I was livid when nothing came of it. It is now forgiven.

Jvr finally did get what he deserved

Hello old friend, I remember you from many close defeats snatched from the jaws of victory.

now that’s settled let’s get on with trouncing the poos and pees by 120 points, we owe them multiple times over

When I heard the good news I literally flexed like JVR did after he goaled against the tigers!

Thank Lucifer

We have now moved up the pecking order somewhat.

At least the Appeal Board showed it is willing to act independently and saw this nonsense verdict and Wood's case for what it was.

And as for Woods....

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
