The heart beats true 18,201 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 It’s very interesting how vocal the media are about how wrong this is. I suspect it’s not over. The media dictated it should be looked at, then said we should go to the tribunal, and now are up in arms. It keeps the AFL in the headlines. Sadly we are all just pawns to content. 12 1 Quote
Demon Disciple 12,536 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 For the sake and good of Aussie Rules football, this decision simply must be appealed. Take it as far as it needs to go, otherwise you may as well make the game a non-contact sport. 6 Quote
Wadda We Sing 10,685 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 We must appeal for the kids sake. Its his 5th game, he was following instructions from the club on how to impact a contest..ie just doing and playing how he was told. I agree with the above posters, i dont see how contact with the underarm, is striking? 9 Quote

Put simply, the MFC, and therefore its members, of which there are many on 'Land, are complicit in supporting this oppressive, systematic racket, dressed up as a judicial system. This is not about Michael Christian or any other individual, but insidious, systematic injustice, that transcends individual actors. Sooner or later, someone or something, must take a stand to root out systematic oppression within the whole system. It is clear the emperor has no clothes, for the AFL judicial system has acquired both a power and personality of its own, operating in a closed system, accountable only to itself. What is needed is an outside force that takes a drastic action upon the interlocking forces that composes the system. If successful, this usually results in the movement of the entire system. One person or organisation can change a system, which in turn changes other systems, forming a network of cascading changes unimaginable from the point of the first contemplative action. Numerous such actions have been taken against the previous incarnation of the VFL, and the modern AFL, that exposed disorder, hypocrisy, highlighted political and moral U-turns, and punctured bombastic posturing. Maybe the time has come to expose the emperor again and the institutionalisation of trickery at all levels. Spoken like a real MAGA supporter with big words. Where were you on Jan 6? 2 Quote
At the break of Gawn 4,511 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 The club will definitely appeal based on the reasoning given. We'll be back talking about this Thursday night. 3 Quote

A handful of games, now walks away from the tribunal thinking he’s done something wrong. They obviously didn’t believe a word he said otherwise he’d be playing this week. I hope this doesn’t change the way JVR plays. A very disappointing decision. Right there with ya @Dee Zephyr. Gotta stand up for the club but also have to stand up for this kid. I just loved his season last year. He's such a wonderful competitor who doesn't take a backwards step but just plays it hard AND FAIR. what a crappy thing for him to have to go through. The AFL is a media driven disgrace and the club must see this through now. 7 Quote

So the players on the ground thought there ‘was nothing to see here’ but the MRO and tribunal think slapping him with a two week ban is justice? what am I missing???? Nothing. Easier for the AFL to pick a junior / second year player to send a message to all clubs rather than a high profile player where there’d be far more media interest. Hope the media jumps all over this and not just Slobo 9 Quote
Deebymistake 790 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 The AFL is corrupt, unethical and evil. Call a royal commission, dismantle the whole organisation and start again. If I didn't love my club like I do, I would have been done with Aussie rules years ago. 5 1 1 Quote

Kev 10,920 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 How confusing for the players. Most marking situations leave the chance or "inevitability of a forceful blow to the head". A glance by the upper arm is a forceful blow, what a precedent, no concussion. Well will there be consistency, and if so, the pack mark is dead. No knees to the head when leaping, no follow through when spoiling. The game has now changed. 10 1 Quote

DeeMee 924 Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 This decision will absolutely make no difference to the way the game is played. There will be some media talk, we will point out in outrage identical incidents that result in no report but then the next shiny thing will come along and this will be forgotten by the media and no one else will face a similar report. MFC shafted again. 11 Quote
