Hibbo pulled up? Wow

It’ll be Pickett for Brown. Petty will remain forward and I reckon Tomlinson will be sub.
They will obviously not drop Rivers or Chandler and I’ll burn the joint down if JJ gets the chop.

Had Jordon in my votes last week. Cannot believe he’s been omitted. Tough to find anyone to drop, but I don’t agree with this decision.

Melbourne won by 109 points! I was there with my daughter - it was FANTASTIC!

Sadly I still don’t remember it.

He is clearly being seen as out of best 22

Even in the StK practice game he was playing in the 2s game

The Jordan one is really stuff…Sparrow would want to have a solid, impactful game as Jordan was excellent last week

Reality is that no one deserved to be dropped, but someone had to for Pickett..

would be interesting to hear the thought process behind the decision

If you base form on this year purely between Jordon and Sparrow considering they play the exact same role then even in the single game he's played, Jordon's output far out weighs the underwhelming performances Sparrow has dished up so far.

It's not just this year alone but even going off last year's form where he was again, underwhelming for the year.

I don't blame him either and I hope for his own career sake.

He'll be better appreciated somewhere else.

There's a lot of the season to go yet

For me he leaves at the end of the year and I don’t blame him. Definitely deserved his spot this week

Your not alone. Real head scratcher this scratching.

re: Sparrow vs Jordon. I'd be wagering the football department have some insight and know what they are doing and for what purpose, be it for 2023 or beyond.

Really think JJ or better Sparrow should be sub and rotate it through the year amongst a few. Melksham can get to his 100 father and son rule stuff later in the year. What happened to rewarding form. We have treated JJ poorly.

Sparrow is the new O Mac

We thrashed Gold Coast by 98 points in August 2021.  Remember that one?  Viney got suspended.

God, we have some overblown nonsense in this thread.

Its hard for good young players to keep a spot in this midfield unless you are special.

Deal with it.

Sparrow very lucky to be in the team. Jordon very stiff.

I'm with you, there's stories like this in most successful clubs and whoever gets him is going to have a very committed and ready made player.

Que?

Not happy!! Agree with others re JJ.

Also, I don't think Tmac deserved to be recalled after only 1 good match at Casey.

Not up to it but will have fantastic job security in the best 22 for the next 5 years based off a few good glimpses

Ah, I thought you were referencing the outwardly expressive love for him on Demonland a la the oft maligned OMAC!

Carry on... 😘

The last two seasons Jordan has had late season injuries that ruled him out of finals and meant he was sub for the grand final in ‘21.

The FD may be being cautious with him and letting him work into the season. That’s the only reason I can see why they’d drop him after his game last week.

Tragic.

He will be sub, Kozzie and Tmac both had to come in. Doubt whether Jordon will spit the dummy at the end of the year.

It's only round 4.  Plenty to play out this season so let's not jump the gun re Jordon leaving.

You'd have to have faith in our FD and also recognise we have more than 22 worthy senior players on the list.

Not surprised by the change, difficult though it is to make changes to a winning team. Pickett in gives us more outside run around the ball, so no surprise that they've kept Sparrow who's more of an insider.

Jordan unlucky but will get his chances, we're not going to get through the season without midfield injuries and he's next cab off the rank.

Overblown is an understatement.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
