  • Processing the grief
  • @Jaded No More becoming seriously jaded
  • Sanity emanating from @Webber and @RyanD
  • Complete absence of @WalkingCivilWar - more worried about this than Max quite frankly
  • The catastrophisation, neurotic codependency and trauma triggering reactions by the rest of us

Right now I’m at Acceptance and Hope, having just sped through Anger, Bargaining and Depression while on the plane (which is the norm win or lose, amirite).

I’ll begin processing the grief once I’m home because that’s when I’ll know exactly how much grief I’m looking at. I’m not sure but I think a banana Big M has leaked in my suitcase. Good times.

Why would you put a Big M or any liquid for that matter in your suitcase?

More importantly, how did your scans go? (If you’re wanting to share of course)

If / When there’s actual news can we post a new thread? I can’t keep checking this every 5 mins .. and pretend to have conversations with people.  re stages of grief,  Im officially in denial .. everything will be fine and nothing happened. Also we won in Brisbane and kozzy re signed. im not well.  🥶

About to board a flight. Hopefully good news in 2 hours otherwise you might have to wait for me to unmelt the server when I land.

Safe flight

Max can sign autographs on their moon boots or crutches and take selfies comparing dickie knees for compensation. A medical visit to remember.

This doesn’t sound good.

If he wants “ genuine worry” he should come to this site not speak to the MFC.

MRI results are instant. You get the films straight after the scan. It’s about having someone to interpret them. Which I assume we can find a doctor or two keen to look at them today.

Jaded if they can't find a real doctor immediately then surely the club could post the images here for a Demonland non-medical opinion.

They can wait.

It was mentioned, we are not inferring.

Let's stop this speculative discussion in respect for Max. Our thoughts are with him, whatever the the short and longer term outcomes may be - he will feel our concern anyway and the many thousands of good wishes that cannot be fully expressed. Overt speculation does not help, not one iota. So, shaddup and get on the bandwagon to support and further encourage those of His team that he is leaving behind for a while.

Not a fan of this kind of "journalism".

Let's wait until we hear from the medical experts and get all the facts on Max Gawn's knee scan first.

I just found out that a very old Mate has Cancer.

Max’s knee will be repaired.
The rest of our list and coaches all have to look each other in the eye and say “How hard are you prepared to work”

Smash adversity and Keep Fighting…

and Yes, He is a Demon Supporter…

As I understand it, if it’s an ACL you hear or feel a pop. Perhaps this is a positive sign but even that’s not conclusive.

Wish that was always the case but of the 3 ACL ruptures I had playing footy I didn’t hear a thing for 2 of them and only had mild discomfort and a feeling that something wasn’t right.  First one was also a similar action to Max with a player crashing in.

I’m so nervous for Max!!  Fingers crossed.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
