Sounds as though Jacko has been with Cuz whilst both on the buzz have become quite whacko.

Unfortunately even though Pickett's bump action didn't 'elevate' off the ground (his shoulder was actually lower than if he had been standing) the fact both feet left the ground and there was a really good cinematic camera angle will count against him.

Still, late bump that hits the head, you cop your suspension and hopefully take the point to heart.

Pickett's was worse than Buddy's, Pickett left the ground and hit Smith after he had disposed of the ball. Buddy was following the ball and ran through Collins on his way. Don't think Franklin gets a suspension.

Here is the Buddy incident. No comparison with Kozzy. Kozzy’s incident looks much worse. I believe Kozzy will be made an example of because the AFL will be under pressure with all the concussion stuff in the news. He would get more if Smith had been concussed and hadn’t bounced back up.

Having said that if Buddy has done exactly what Kozzy did he would most certainly get off with a slap on the wrist.

Didn't see Franklin's but I can see Pickett getting anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks especially with the current climate of concussion legal actions against the AFL. If he gets off it would be a miracle. Smith playing on helps the cause but the AFL won't like seeing hits like that replayed through the week and will want to send a message that we are serious on potential head injuries.

Yep first cab off the rank for the season so to speak. He could be made an eg of.

Watched this over and over and over.

Kozzzy leaves his feet to bump.  Not great.
Impact yes.

But … IT WASN’T A HIGH HIT TO THE HEAD

watch the frame by frame and it’s a shoulder to upper torso hit

Smith played on.  No Concussion.

Amazed that some are trying to put Kozzzys on the frypan for this.

In my view, it’s a rough conduct.  Low impact as Smith plays on. Two weeks and one week as a guilty plea.

If it was Cripps, Hawkins, Selwood, Dangerfield. Not guilty. Move on.

But Kozzzy is one of the regular blokes so he cops it.

I think the optics are the worst thing here. AFL will want to make a statement. If we’re prepared to fight with Carlton level QCs we might get a more lenient sentence but I think the best we can expect is 1-2 weeks.

Agree 100% . It just looks bloody crude. Kozzie's feet are both off the ground and he's going at Smith like a missile.

However, there is no head contact and Smith does not show any distress.

On outcomes the worst he should get is a week, or even a fine.

However, we all know the fickle ,inconsistent ( and too often ridiculous)  nature of decisions given in the past.

We need to cross our fingers on this one.

And the photo of the Cripps incident was so very like Kozzies bump. Feet well off the ground.  PLUS the other player was concussed. Interesting this one..

Definitely like the Asterisk Cripps one with feet off the ground.

Unfort the AFL have closed the loophole whereby QCs can blather for literally hours and bamboozle the tribunal into ruling that the sun actually rises in the west.

The AFL match review panel has always been about outcome not intent… until a Melbourne player is involved.

I hope we fight whatever we get if it’s more than a week based on precedence, and also to show Kosi we will support him to the ends of the earth (so he signs on!).

Yep we always fall on the wrong side of the inconsistency scale

To me the vision shows he does slide up the shoulder of Smith and make contact with the head. He will be made an example of necessary stricter head contact rules. Time to stop using past outcomes as 'a get out of jail free card' and take this action out of the game.

Apart from that -

Wonderful game Kozzy. See you in a couple of weeks!

I think that’s right, he gets a week for the look.

Player ok and played well.

Cripps sent Ah-Chee into next week, knocking him out and then missing games. Appealed and got off, winning a Brownlow for fairest and best and getting votes in last games.

We have changed interpretations so often, from outcome, to intent, to possible outcome etc.

With all the concussion talk, it will be a week for possible outcome and the opticals.

Smith is a class act, that will save Kozzie, I thought he was gone for four on 1st glance, but if he got shoulder and barely glanced head, nothing to see. Franklin flushed the Suns player.

Kozzie does need to be smarter with his shots though.

I feel like the tribunal can't go to hard considering Cripps.

He'll get a few weeks unfortunately.

Massive kudos to Brodie Grundy. Ran in with such intent to stick up for kozzie in that scuffle. Bloke cares for his teammates.

Precedence with Cripps case says he should get off....Personally i think these type incidents deserve a week or 2.

The tribunal will find this a tough case for round 1....They will really want to rub him out for "pure optics"....There is no way he should be suspended if we are to take Cripps case seriously.  Seems to be all about the damage inflicted, regardless of intent.   Play ON....by the AFL's dodgy interpretations and precedents!

Rioli for West Coast also got away with a pretty ugly looking one i thought he would also get weeks for.

Who knows when it comes to the tribunal....Get a good lawyer Kozzie!

I don't think there is precedence with Cripps. Iirc the AFL changed the rules to ensure no one could get off like that again.

Reckon he'll get and deserves 2 games.

Unfortunately usual blockheads in the press are already calling for more than 2 weeks

You mean Liam Ryan.

I agree with Jaded No More, anything worse than a week and we appeal and show Cripps and Ryan knockouts, which are according to the Tribunal, absolutely fine. Smith jumped straight up and was not attended by trainers and got 27 possies. That is very relevant.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Carlton

The Blues season is on the line and their captain and coach have been in the firing line all week. If the Dees cough this one up the media's crosshairs will do a 180 and will surely be directed at the Demons who have only won 13 games from their last 25 outings. This is a must win game for the Melbourne Football Club too.

WRITING ON THE WALL by Whispering Jack

The Narrm Football Club found a second way in the space of 12 months less a day to unexpectedly lose a home game against Walyalup on Saturday afternoon. The equivalent match of last year has been described as Melbourne’s “ground zero” of 2022 where things went wrong for the club after a long run of wins that included its 57 year drought-breaking premiership triumph. Unfortunately for the Demons, the 2023 version was a case of deja vu with the Dockers overcoming a half time deficit and runn

    CRUSHED by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons were dealt a crushing blow to their hopes of repeating last year’s premiership glory when they capitulated to the Werribee Tigers in the final term of what was for the first three quarters a riveting game of football. The Demons struck early with the opening two goals of the match but the Tigers fought back to level the scores by mid-term. From there on until the middle of the last quarter, there was never more than two goals separating the teams although the home side look
