Marks in forward 50 are at a premium...do Brown and McDonald hold less than other Key Fwds....do we play, expecting crumbers to create goals as a second option?

I'm just doing some forward-planning here. I want to know whether JVR should be getting into the 22 early rather than later (so Lukey Jackson doesn't get into his ear at next Freo clash?).

Teams to rise:

Carlton (top 4)

Gold Coast

Port Adelaide

Teams to fall:

Collingwood (finishing 9th)

Bulldogs

Tigers

Have Bombers finishing bottom 3 (well can only hope!).

My comment and question for the panel - It's a good bet that Judd McVee will get a game early, if not named in Round 1. JVR will surely get a look in at some point in the season. Which other Rookie do you guys think will debut for the Demons in 2023?

Team to Rise: Gold Coast

Team to Fall: Collingwood

Rise - Adelaide

Fall - Tigers

Who will be our defender who takes the oppositions dangerous small forward? The Papleys, the Stengles, the Camerons etc. Judd McVee looks set to debut in Rd 1. Is Hibberd done? I don't think we should write him off just yet but I feel that a big statement was made not playing him in the praccy matches.

I just want to hear all the good vibes from our esteemed panel.
Without mentioning names, there will be no room for MFCSS on this poddy. 😀😃😄

This is the greatest time of the year. MFCSS only sets in after a loss.

I hear that Harley Reid kid is pretty good though.

Teams to Rise: Unfortunately both Adelaide teams will rise. Port will make finals again. Adelaide will probably miss out but they're not far off.

Teams to Fall: Bulldogs, Collingwood & Tigers all in danger of dropping out of the 8. Saints will fall further down the ladder.

Obviously Fritsch comes back into the side when fit so who makes way from the forward line? Chandler?

Which is our strongest line this year. Looks like our backline will again be strong but i think the flexability in out mids will confuse some teams.

How many goals will Fritta kick in the last quarter of the grand Final?  (Asking for a very young friend)

How do you think we are going to use sub this year? Is it going to be a James Jordan type who can play multiple roles from midfield to up and down the flanks or will it be a tall/mobile type like JVR or even Joel Smith?

Rise - Brisbane (Top 2)

       - Carlton (Top 4)

        - Gold Coast (Top 8)

Fall - Tigers (Middle of the Road)

        - Saints (Bottom 4)

       - Hawks (Spoon)

What's our 'pass mark' for the first 5 rounds of the season?

I think 4 - 1 would be great but maybe 3 - 2 is not too bad considering the fixture?

Following on from the question; What is the pass mark for the season? Top 4? Top 2? Then Prelim Final?

Rise: Carlton

Fall: Bulldogs

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Who is the one player that would be the biggest loss to the team if they were ruled out before a game?

How many goals will we need out of our key forward group (T-mac, BBB, JVR, Schache and friends) to win the flag this year?

Swans are always our toughest opponent. Hard physical games…

My question would be, who of the young players are most likely to debut this year in season 2023 for the Demons?

1) Judd McVee #41

2) Jacob van Rooyen #2

3) Bailey Laurie #16

4) Blake Howes #22

5) Taj Woewodin #40

6) Andy Moniz-Wakefield #45

7) Matthew Jefferson #21

These are my 7 most likely (shown above) to possibly get a chance this year of playing in the senior Demons side in an AFL game.

Rising Team > Carlton

Falling Team > Tigers

I would like to get the panel's opinion on what they think the biggest changes will be from 2022 to 2023?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
