Can somebody explain how we can get GWS 7 and Heynes. I have no idea how that can be played out after our trades today.

I’m confused too…

I just keep hearing it haha

If Petty wants to go back to SA, understand talk of a trade, otherwise he is irreplaceable in my opinion. And I’m not talking about a potential forward, my view is he takes the main key defender post for the next 8 years

Essentially exactly the same as the Bowes deal to Geelong last year.

We take the salary which GWS can't afford, and in return we get pick 7. Oh and also the player that goes along with the salary.

Pretty is a 197cm premiership player at 23 years of age and could possibly turn into a forward. Why on earth do people want to let him go for pick 10 + maybe something in the 20's? Madness.

You clearly live in an echo chamber of happy clapper demon supporters who over rate their list. Pettys best is behind him. Mini rebuild time cause we suck

How does this work? Haven't we lost a truck load of players to delistings, trades and retirement? Who's going to replace them?

We could be going for Norf's pick 3 to land one of Mckercher or Duursma?

6 & 11 for 3 & 18 or something to that effect

Yeah right:

I just have missed something with Shane McAdam.  I thought he was a borderline beat 22 at both clubs… how do you ‘play hardball over that’?

I think you’re right. If Pick 1 is out of reach Dees will be looking at Duursma.

The crows are throwing a tanty. Historically quite good at throwing them but haven’t generally lead to great success

So much for bringing in a number of talent through the door...

Might be onto something - North need Key Position Players... but obviously you have to take best available at the point end of the draft.  The top 3 are midfielders and there's a couple of Key Position Players in the 6-12 window?

We have Kynan Brown F/S and we need to upgrade McVee and Turner onto the primary list.

My biggest concern is we have lost a lot of depth and still have Ben Brown, Tom McDonald and Jake Melksham on the list. None of them are playing senior football in 2024. We are essentially playing with three less players, and might get 3 in the draft. I’m super confused. Add Schache to the list, a bloke we re-signed for another year, who wasn’t good enough to come on as a sub. I cannot work it out. Is the club overrating its list? We are a few key injuries away from being a 12-14 side with the current list we have assembled

The deal for pick 11 looks incredibly one-sided.

So there are 2 potential outcomes we are aiming for from this (potentially either would satisfy us):

1. We orchestrated the move with a deal in mind that will require pick 11 and make the lopsided nature of the initial trade seem irrelevant (see Hogan for picks that acquired May, Steven); OR

2. There is a player we think is very likely to be available at pick 11 that is unlikely to be available at 14 and worth the price we paid.

I think the first option is more likely, but hopefully both are true in case the first does not come to fruition. Chances are that that players we have our eyes on that would have been taken with the 2 later picks that went for pick 11, will still be available with the late picks we hold (e.g. Brown & Andrew)

Yea can’t figure this out 27 and 35 to move from 14 to 11, unless those picks weren’t going to be used it doesn’t make much sense

What if it is the player described by many experienced recruiters, as the most talented young player they have ever seen?

Then another draftee and then f/s Brown and McAdam and Fullarton.

McAdam and Fullerton are fringe at best. Seriously. We have done very little to date to improve the list. There is time to get something done, but there was a lot of talk about our exceptional draft hand and how we might use it. If we think we are in our window, we have done very little to improve ourselves and address needs so far. We don’t appear to be after experienced players, or we haven’t leaked yet

I’m confused and believe me it doesn’t take much at what we are doing but then again I don’t have to understand it.

I just hope the Dees know what they are doing and have something cooking and based on the last few drafts I think that’s the case.

Just hope it addresses our issue in the forward line

Time will tell.

So we trade 14 27 and 35 for 11 in a deal that involved crows while they trade 23 and 26 for 14 and Chris Burgess. How did we not get mcadam as part of that

A lot of hype around North offering 4x first rounders.

Not sure how pick 21 and a future End-of-first-round pick (i.e. after) qualify.

Our hand would beat that, if it were to come to it. I don’t think North will entertain 2&3 and we’ve beaten them to the punch in acquiring earlier picks... unless they approach Geelong.

Who I think is our next stop.

This is reminiscent of our moves in the 2015 Trade period to secure Oliver and Weideman.  Club copped a lot of criticism before all the pieces fell into place.

Don’t get why people are confused if the draft was tomorrow we would only be using picks 6 and 11 then possibly getting f/s at end of draft and potentially upgrading turner and mcvee from rookie list, so as it stands right now we will only use 2 live picks so no point hanging onto 2 nd round picks might aswell get as high up the order as possible

T Mac played finals after a long lay off and Brown will get fit.  So to discount these as not playing is way off the mark .

If we end up using a later pick for someone else then we are idiots

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
