Insulting

When I finished laughing at that offer, I realised they're no doubt running the same game with Collingwood for Adams and will attempt to get us to fight over their second-rounder. I'd back the Swans needing Grundy more than Adams.

Yup the 100% are trying to have their cake and eat it too with Grundy and Adams.

Agree they need Grundy more, feel sorry for JJ as Adams hurts his spot in the team a bit.  Maybe we should ensure there is nothing left to get that deal done!

Without mentioning sources etc, I have been told Shane McAdam and Fogarty has been suggested by the dees for a round 1 selection. No me tion of what pick was to be utilised or multiples

Can't see Crows trading Fogarty unless it's a straight swap for Petty.

Very insulting to Grundy.

Maybe its just posturing for their fans.

This has been on the cards for weeks. Do we believe that just today they made an offer and it's 46?

Still holding out for 11, for Grundy and spices.

What makes you think we'll get 11 or anywhere near that Mr Leg?  Genuine question.

Didn't we grab him for 27 or so last year.

Yes we did, but that doesn't mean you get back what you paid.

Swans are desperate for Grundy as their number 1 ruckman, we got him as number 2.

Anyway, let's see how good we can be at holding out.

However, tbh, whilst we have been good at drafting, we often seem to over pay overs on our buys and get unders on our sales.

We’re not getting anything near 11 for Grundy, that was obvious even before Sydney offered pick 40-something.

Article in the Age confirms the offer was 46 + 54. Probably trying to soften us up for pick 33, but we're holding out for 25. Wonder if the future pick they'll get for Stephens from Roos will play a role in the Adams/Grundy Swans stand off.

They also say:

"Melbourne are closing in on securing a second top draft pick to potentially make a plunge for one of the most sought after players at the top of the draft.

Melbourne have tempted Gold Coast with pick 14 and second round draft picks in exchange for pick 11. Two industry sources said Melbourne were eager to get pick 11 to bracket with their existing first pick now at six (tied to Fremantle’s finish) to make a play for one of top few draft picks."

Would you trade 6 and 11 for pick 1

You mean, like, the Jackson trade (pick 15, 6 and 25)? Or a measly 2nd rounder for Langdon. BBB cost us little, too

Cheer up Red!

Reid for Curtin & Wilson? Probably.

I'd have a throw at the stumps, but the momentum seems to have switched to WC taking Reid (unless North cough up picks 2 & 3 - I wouldn't pay that and wouldn't think Roos would either).

If WC hold on to 1, we could see if North want to split pick 2 or 3.  Who knows, if that happens maybe North then split pick 6 with Eagles (who would get Curtin) and get WC's future first and our 11 in that scenario, which could have some appeal. North have so many chips we might be able to get something else back in any potential split.

Melbourne would do that in a heartbeat. West Coast would hang the phone up. We’d need to throw in a future 1st on top of that at a minimum

I'm certain we'd add our future 1st into a trade proposal, but agree that WC would still likely decline.

I know it doesn't work this way given the potential & hype surrounding Reid but it's a like for like points swap....

1 >  3000

6 & 11 > 3080

Is he the bloke that plays forward? What’s his deal? He can kick some snags but tends to go missing a fair a bit.

I think it’s better than 2/3 and 14 which is what Norf can offer. They are not offering 2 and 3. Curtin is drifting out a little and WC are being held ransom to him. Best they let it go and deal us in.

I'd like to see us play hard ball, set a price and just refuse to sign off on any other deal.

Grundy and 27 for pick 11 or no deal,

What did GWS trade for pick 1 last year?

12 minutes ago, WERRIDEE said:

Sifting out what GWS gave up to get pick 1, they sent picks 3, 12 & a future 2nd into the mega trade.

Kangas gave up JHF & pick 1 & a future 3rd & received 2 (from WC) & 3, Ports 1st this year plus a few 3rd rounders.

Perceived value of pick 1 is significantly higher this year with Reid. Not saying it should be, but it is.

I’m fairly certain Fogarty is bigger than Fritsch and a much more aggressive player.  Fogarty and JVR would hurt some defenders with the way they attack the ball.

3cm and 15kg

The first round picks for a kid?

Pick 33 for a 2x AA ruckman

It's getting ridiculous now.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
