POSTGAME: Match SIM vs St. Kilda

What sort of role is McVee playing down back? Can he be a small lockdown type to quell the Charlie Cameron, Stengle, Papley types? Could he replace Hibberd long term?  Hoping he’s not just another rebounder as we’re well stocked for hbfs, but have a clear list gap for small lockdown defenders since Jetta retired and Hibberd is on his last legs.

McVee is the interesting one. Come from the clouds. Hibbo playing twos...

that's the one that surprised me too. Hibbo has the harder body and probably should be playing round one, but youthful exuberance is a beautiful thing, and he kind of looked like what I hoped Joel Smith would be out there. definitely one to watch.

i missed most of q2 cos of meetings, but based on what i did see of those four quarters:

- lever won't play round 1; plugger back, Fritsch comes

Unless he’s badly injured Lever is best 22 and will continue to be so

McVee was very good, as were Bowey, Rivers and Hibberd .

Someones gonna miss out.

Rapt with Kozzie in the midfield and Hunter really adds something.

I'll be honest, I thought that McVee would be the least likely of the 2nd year players to debut this year. But based on that game, he'll be pushing for round 1. He was excellent 1 on 1, read the play well, and his disposal was neat and effective.

Others to impress were Hunter, Rivers, Bowey and Chandler. If Kozzie is playing further up field, then Chandler should be a lock for round 1. Rivers should be challenging Harmes for a spot in the side.

The Grundy/Gawn combo went as how I thought it would. Gawn is vastly superior around the ground, and despite kicking 3 between them, neither were effective as marking forwards. Grundy's ruckwork was largely ineffectual, and was cumbersome at ground level.

If it’s just a rolled ankle he’ll be fine, depends on if any ligament damage.

He was doing run throughs on the boundary just after he did it so doubt it's really serious. The worry is not will he play round 1 but home times will he hurt it during the year. it's like his ankles are made of glass.

Sadly couldn’t see any of it.
Any observations on JVR and Shasche.

Neither really got into it

It was just a practice game so won't read to much into it but there was a problem with delivery inside the forward 50. Too many times it went to a saints player. Is there something familiar in  what I am saying.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
