Why do we have offices at AAAMI park but then have zero advertising rights around the precinct? That's a question I'd like answered. We are not even included on the official tenants banner that is situated at the front of the stadium. Where is the signage at the MCG, advertising the ground as our home?  We have no home. Nothing to identify with. There is zero brand exposure for the MFC. If we are to grow the supporter base, it's marketing 101 to have brand exposure. We have ZERO! That is the importance of a home base. The residents of CASEY could not give a rats t0ssbag about AFL. You could remain there for another 10 years and you'd be unlikely to get 1000 additional members. Meanwhile, we are moving further from our heartland areas and engaging less with our traditional supporter regions. That is a massive issue! That is why it needs fixing!

People did not follow any football team because they had a home ground, people followed teams through family, friends, players and success, football is tribal game it's as simple as that, marketing is completely different to 20 -30 years ago.

Your point about the heartland, hate to tell you but that has changed with different demographics of people, Hawthorn moved from their heartland Collingwood did the same those days are gone the reality is people don't care it's what they do on the ground that counts.

Yep that is how i see it. Our “Homes” are scattered right now. The Facilities we have are ok to good, but are all over the suburbs. We are silent partners at AAMI and Casey.
that does damage The Club in terms of Marketing and probably enticing some recruits to come to us and others to stay

Bring on the redevelopment of the Great Southern Stand and get in there

Success brings recruits, and if the redevelopment of the southern stand does get done how does that solve the problem it's the same being at AMMI park?

I respectfully disagree with you. Collingwood still have very big links to Vic Park. There are many many Hawthorn supporters in Hawthorn, Camberwell, Kew and the leafy eastern suburbs. They grew their support when they moved to Waverley, expanding their supporter base, and by engaging the community out that way. I do agree that onfield success helps.

You say "Your point about the heartland, hate to tell you but that has changed with different demographics of people,..." - I don't really understand what you are trying to say. Melbourne heartland still appears to be Malvern, Glen Iris, Armadale, Toorak and the bayside areas. This was fairly evident during our 2021 finals campaign, where many of the homes were sporting melbourne colours. For me, this is why the Caulfield Racecourse makes a of of sense.

That's right, all 400,000 residents only follow wogball!

What a ridiculous generalisation.

I'd love to get the club to release the figures on how many members, of our 65K, are residing in Casey. I would absolutely love to see those figures. When we play games out there in preseason we are 100% of the time outnumbered. The AFLW  team gets lowly crowds. It is not heartland, it never will be. You actually can't convince me otherwise.

Our "brand" is the name of a major city rather than a suburb or a country town. We shouldn't need a bit of signage on a building to market ourselves. There are far greater and better opportunities available to us than that. It just needs some creative thinking. To be honest, I'd rather we spent money building relationships with the City of Melbourne and anything else which is symbolic of Melbourne the city than spend it on a home base.

I don't disagree with you. However, what have we done to engage the City of Melbourne residents? It's a huge opportunity. Many people who have zero links to AFL clubs, just waiting to be engaged. Do they even know we exist? Be hard to know, given our lack of exposure in the city to whom our name is tied.

We tried to increase brand exposure a few years ago in this way. They rented signage opposite Flinders st Station and ran free coffee carts. I like that sort of initiative. I am a little like you - I'd prefer a Demon Shop in the heart of the CBD, rather than at the [censored] end of the MCG, where no one can access. There is so much empty retail in the CBD, you'd perhaps consider it, wouldn't you?

Because of the antiquated notion that we have a divine right to be located near the G, and that admin and FD should be co-located for reasons that were relevant in 2004.

@rjaytour dismissiveness of our facilities is overdone. Casey has had money poured in and will continue to have money thrown at it. AAMI is the inner city presence that is oh so important. What do we lack exactly?

Well guess you could not answer my question but ok,

1. I am not blindly following the board but do understand how hard it is to get a multi million funded project off the ground  it does take time and lets face it governments are wary of giving money to a football club when they are struggling financial wise not good aesthetics.

2 Yes I would like a all in one club but we had our chances years ago, but until then we have facilities that are damm good for the players and that what counts.

3. People get on here and continue to infer that the board either has done nothing or don't know what they are doing or not telling the truth.

Sorry, on your first point yes we had our injuries but the game plan was the biggest problem, even they tried to change late season  but it was too late.

No dismissiveness and no avoiding your question.

All I'm saying is we need to keep up...and need a home.

That's pretty simple.

So far we have in place a short term solution that is working but everyone knows, including both of you, that it is short term.

As soon as anyone questions anything to do with facilities some seem to think it's an attack on the board.

It's not, but it is a legitimate question.

....and 'demon3165', we can add game plan to the mix of reasons although I think injury might have effected the plan. It's neve just one thing.

Can you tell us which $20 - 50 odd multi million dollar projects that you started with state, federal and council from the ground up, as you think that is easy to do? I hope you understand the word confidentiality? or should they just let everyone know and get all parties to withdraw from the talks.

Stupid comment. I am not the President or CEO of the club. Yes, the process is confidential, but that doesn't mean there is anything to report. We have clearly made no progress. Pert himself admitted that and gave himself a big red mark for not achieving a strategic objective in time. The narrative we have good facilities is new. Yes, they are improving but the club has also admitted we are dead last. Also, seen your comments on "we won a premiership training at Casey...". Yes we did, but we won in a year where all clubs were displaced for parts of the year and the finals series. It was not a normal year and none of us know what would have happened if it had been.

No it’s not the same in the slightest

We are sharing facilities with 3 other clubs right now

Whilst frustrating ,I think Pert’s explanation on our future home was very well explained. In any areas that entails other stakeholders  - those conversations need  to be kept confidential..he did say that two areas had been identified with continued dialogue to continue, two area ,Caulfield and one other MPOS or MPOT, ?
I didn’t understand the last site …Can anyone enlighten me on this, please

A home.

Hang on a second - we go to Caulfield or wherever - is that our ‘home’ is it the G?

This is where we ties ourselves in knots about what exactly we are looking for.

I thought we needed elite training facilities, forgive me for not being sentimental to a literal fault.

Ok when state, federal and council money or approval for such projects are needed especially in this climate money wise all parties will not want information let out, but regarding the Caulfield project there was a delay and still might be regarding issues with the council and community groups and other parties, personally the only people moaning is a minority section of members, the club has Casey Fields and its set up AMMi park for gym and pools and the admin is there as well, we also won a Premiership with these same conditions, I wonder if these people seem to think there will be a social section for the club in any new amenities, now you can believe Pert or just come out and say he's lying instead of innuendo comments.

How do you know this, have you canvassed the members, or is your information based on the number of posts complaining about it on Demonland?

I don’t care about having ONE training base, I don’t care about co-location of admin staff with the FD, and I reject the notion of this facility being a ‘home’ for the club - it will always be the G.

It is not defence of the board, only a push back of an agitating group’s self-important judgement of this boards record.

Frankly, the board should come out and say we are at Casey as our ‘training base’. Turn it into a Peninsula Paradise similar to what Geelong have and just be done with it.

So you know for a fact do you?

Right at the end Ms Roffey told of at least a half a dozen councils she had contacted in the last few months regarding available land ( hectares as she put it) without luck.

That do for a start.

With that attitude you will never evolve.

Dante, why has it taken until the last few months?

What have they been doing for the last few years?

Roffey said tonight the players have everything they need at Casey. Ground, gym, pool, indoor arena etc. they want for nothing in terms of the quality of the necessities.

Just a shame it’s an hour away from the CBD.

They don't have a pool at Casey, they are in the process of raising funds to build one.

They are asking 100 supporters to donate money to cover the costs.

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. SLIP SLIDING AWAY by Meggs

It was a sweaty, slippery night at Cazalys Stadium, a tough slog with low scoring and missed opportunities.  The Hokball Hawks hung on to win by a goal and sit second on the ladder, relegating the disappointed Demons to, almost certainly, finals spectators.   We had to win this match. When news broke of late withdrawals of talisman Kate Hore and key back Gaby Colvin, expectations plummeted, and Demon fans despaired.  The bad news was the signature song of 2024, a season that’s
