Ok, lets just keep everything the same then. Injury was a big factor in costing us a flag last year, I also suspect a bit of premiership hangover and the uncertainty of the Jackson contract were part of many factors. People here who support the the board blindly are looking at any comment as a criticism. I believe we need a home base, currently we are still nomads moving between Gosch's, Casey, Port and admin at the 'G'... I'm not blaming the current board although I hope they are being honest with the members. I don't know what Pert said tonight...that's why I asked you???? 4 1 Quote
DeeZone 10,590 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Where’s the discussion on the good news, we keep beating ourselves up about inner city training facilities, we have Goshes, AAMI and we have just spent $17m on upgrading Casey so that our four teams have the necessary facilities to start winning premierships again, premierships that most of us thought that we would never see again. We are rebuilding our club to a state of relevance we need to continue to build the club, we need that 70 - 75,000 paid up members and we need to average crowds of 50,000 at our home games so that “people” take us seriously . As Pert points out we need more clout in the AFL, winners are grinders, this is the best ride that I have had with the club and we should all be enjoying the ride and thank everyone who has helped us get this far. I will not be around to see our Shang- re-la but hopefully my kids and grandkids may.!!!! 11 2 1 Quote
Supreme_Demon 4,141 Posted February 20, 2023 Author Posted February 20, 2023 (edited) I watched the live stream of the MFC AGM this evening. I was disappointed that the live stream "cut out" during question time though. But I will assume that was nothing more than a technical issue. No big surprises from the MFC AGM. Endorsed Board Members won easily. The Members Resolution failed to achieve the required 75%. People like stability and voted to continue the current status quo of the Melbourne Football Club Board. Let's hope it leads to more Premierships for the Melbourne Demons. There was a lot of good news too. We are in an extremely strong financial position and we had over 66,000 MFC Members in 2022. How good is it to be debt free?! Nevertheless, the Home Base issue is still unresolved. However, I accepted Gary Pert's detailed explanation in his presentation. But it was still quite frustrating. I will have to simply wait another 12 months to re-ask the same question and hope that there will be some further progress. I get the impression that Gary Pert and the MFC Board are just as genuinely frustrated about the situation of our Home Base. They want to achieve the goals set in their Strategic Plan just as much as we do. Let's hope we get some good news about the Home Base later in the year. SD do not hold your breath on the Home base it is a decade away at best. IMO we either keep wishing and hoping or accept that the only option is a fully blown home at Casey. Well guess you could not answer my question but ok, 1. I am not blindly following the board but do understand how hard it is to get a multi million funded project off the ground it does take time and lets face it governments are wary of giving money to a football club when they are struggling financial wise not good aesthetics. 2 Yes I would like a all in one club but we had our chances years ago, but until then we have facilities that are damm good for the players and that what counts. 3. People get on here and continue to infer that the board either has done nothing or don't know what they are doing or not telling the truth. Sorry, on your first point yes we had our injuries but the game plan was the biggest problem, even they tried to change late season but it was too late. 1 1 Quote

Kick_It_To_Pickett 3,293 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Why do we have offices at AAAMI park but then have zero advertising rights around the precinct? That's a question I'd like answered. We are not even included on the official tenants banner that is situated at the front of the stadium. Where is the signage at the MCG, advertising the ground as our home? We have no home. Nothing to identify with. There is zero brand exposure for the MFC. If we are to grow the supporter base, it's marketing 101 to have brand exposure. We have ZERO! That is the importance of a home base. The residents of CASEY could not give a rats t0ssbag about AFL. You could remain there for another 10 years and you'd be unlikely to get 1000 additional members. Meanwhile, we are moving further from our heartland areas and engaging less with our traditional supporter regions. That is a massive issue! That is why it needs fixing! 4 Quote
DeeZone 10,590 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 With the talent and knowledge that we have on the Board if finding and developing a home base was so easy it would already exist, sometimes we have to acknowledge the difficulties that we face and listen to those that have greater understanding of those difficulties.!! 1 1 Quote

Our "brand" is the name of a major city rather than a suburb or a country town. We shouldn't need a bit of signage on a building to market ourselves. There are far greater and better opportunities available to us than that. It just needs some creative thinking. To be honest, I'd rather we spent money building relationships with the City of Melbourne and anything else which is symbolic of Melbourne the city than spend it on a home base. 1 1 Quote

Our “Homes” are scattered right now. The Facilities we have are ok to good, but are all over the suburbs. We are silent partners at AAMI and Casey. that does damage The Club in terms of Marketing and probably enticing some recruits to come to us and others to stay Bring on the redevelopment of the Great Southern Stand and get in there 3 Quote
