Jackson was very will he won’t he. The words out of the club seemed fashioned so that they were hopeful more than anything. Jackson will be remembered by dees fans as a premiership player but a decade from now he will be known only as a freo player.

I never want kossie to be anything other than ours. I’d be gutted to see him tear it up for another club. He’s a champ and I hope he gets some good security in his next contract  reflecting his value.  In the Jason Taylor interviews he seemed supremely confident of pickets signature coming.

Would be nice to get it done early enough. I still remember the media beating up Cyril being worth a million in his hey day before he signed. Best to get ahead of that circus

Jacko Will only be remembered a Freo star as long as he plays like one and is in their inaugural premiership.

OTHER wise his cameo at the Dees and GF relevance will be part of our folklore and his career.

Find that hard to believe.

Grundy was still indicating he wanted to stay.  I dont think MFC had even given him their presentation at that stage. He got the flick from the pies and the meeting with our people sealed it. His 1st preference if not a pie appears to have been mfc.

Not true. The Club wanted to keep LJ, right up to the day he left.

Our President at The B&F made that quite clear

But a Plan B was put in place a long way out.

That might be true, but I think they “knew” well before he left that he was leaving.

Probably yes, but until he actually left, they did not want him to go. That i was told.
Huge Talent left the Club

Chandler is no Kozzie, but he's the closest thing we have to a replacement.  I also get the impression he is strongly invested in the MFC which is a good thing.  Think we need to give him some serious time in the seniors this year for several reasons:

1. He's good enough

2.  As backup for Kozzie leaving

3.  As leverage with Kozzie (as good as he might be, I don't think it would be great if his managers think they have the MFC over a barrel)

4.  Having Chandler in the side as well could actually take some of the heat off Kozzie at times and benifit both the individuals and the team

If Kozzie plays more midfield time as mooted, which is probably the next step in his evolution, it should give us a bit more oppertunity to play both players more often.

Chandler has yet to prove he is good enough at AFL level.

True. I dont know why anyone can base a strategy on someone who has yet to play a solid game in the seniors.

True, but he been given bugger all chance to prove himself in the past two seasons.

yep. He certainly has earned his chance and was knocking the door down this year but its a big step up. I just dont quite see the X factor that maybe others do.

Ray, agree with your main points.  I was meaning that he's good enough to be given a decient oppertunity at senior level to establish if he can make that step up.

I'm not sure he has massive X factor like Kozzie and he definitely wouldn't be like for like in that sense, but I'm not sure he needs huge X factor to be a valuable contributor to the team.

But when he has, he ain't done that much to help his cause. I like the lad, I want him to succeed but he's yet to prove himself at senior level.

  • QD's been on a lovely break since 23 Dec. Very happy
  • Comes onto Demonland to ensure he hasn't missed anything important
  • Reads this thread
  • Checks the bathroom cabinet for razorblades
  • Remembers he bought an electric razor last year around this time.

JT doesn't casually make strong statements like this one - he's too close to the pulse of the matter, as well. Kozzie will stay a Demon, thank heavens. He has fully earned everyone's respect and admiration - with that comes some dependency on him from the whole team - a group of blokes who have opened the doors to his incredible skillset and his development as a team player.

A lot of people aren’t “phased”.

But are they FAZED?

“Fazed” or “Phased”

Overview

fazed / phased are similar-sounding terms with different meanings (referred to as homophones). To better understand the differences, see below for definitions, pronunciation guides, and example sentences using each term. 👇

On the park 3 times last season mostly during junk time for an average of 17 minutes each game. In Perth trying to to do the team thing busted his guts out tackling a WC player and earned two weeks rest.

Sounds like you are the one who wants to go to SA Forkem!! In fact if you don't like the following why stay here and barrack for the Dees??

1. Premiership 'player in 21 and still closer than Port for flag starting in 2023.

2. Love MFC, Coaches and all the guys here are great teammates on and off the field.

3. Get  to  play in blockbusters at the G  In at least 6/8 games per year.

4. Am making a very good living at MFC.

Tell me Kossie doesn't like the above. 4 points.

Hmmnn.

1. Ya reckon Port aren't going to offer a big long term contract to a 21yr old premiership player who has kicked 40 goals in his last 2 seasons.

2. I don't know who he supported as a kid but he's from Sth Australia and Uncle Byron won a flag at Port so I'm marking him down as a Port supporter.

3. Recently lost his mum

And as I consider Melbourne an absolute sheet hole with a crooked premier who's more than happy to baton charge, pepper spray and rubber bullet the citizens, I'd be outta there even quicker for a better work/life balance.
The only thing that would be tough IMO is jumping on a plane most weekends to play.
But he could offset that by not having to travel to Casey for training and Ports superior facilities.

So we agree, most would do the same.

1. Agree

2.. I thought he was from country WA  and might not be a Port supporter, though that is a minor factor.

3. Was she living in SA and have family asked him to return there permanently for some reason.

Not saying he won’t leave, but factors may be slightly different to LJ situation.

Pity he wasn’t a Carlton Captain, or a name player, he would have gotten off.

Both he and ANB have been treated very differently to other AFL players by the Tribunal.

From what I understand, Koz moved from WA to SA during his teen years and lived with family there which he is still very close with. I don't think the chances of his mum asking him to move back are very high, but there's always the scenario that losing his mum has made him consider being closer to family again. On top of that, I believe his dad lives in SA these days.

Fair enough...Like I say, I'd love him to do well.

Port traded in all of their chips to get JHF. They have no trade capital in R1 this year as of right now. They would need to move talent to get into Round 1 this year and they don’t have too many players they can afford to let go that would get them that.

That’s if Kozzy decides to go.

so, if kozzy hasn't signed with 6 games left in the season.....

and keeping in mind the jackson saga....

do we keep playing him or promote someone else?

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
