Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Question: With the AFL making a continual attempt to decongest the game through reducing interchanges, stand rule, etc, does JT feel like the value of the more balanced/outside mids are going to rise over the long term - given he has a tendency to gravitate towards contested bulls, how (if at all) will this effect his selections going forward?

Observation: [redacted]

I already changed it.

Bit of a simple one but can be re-worded and molded differently:

At this point our list's cycle and with the picks we had would you generally look to draft for specific needs or draft what you believe is the best available player when it is time on the clock?

20 Questions with Jason Taylor:

Draft positioning:
- how close was the trade up deal?
- who was the target?
- did they consider trading back, ie. taking the Hawks deal

Jefferson:
- How's his athleticism - 2km, agility, 20m sprint
- Did the consistent scarcity of tall forwards play a role in his selection?
- is he a late bloomer/underdeveloped as a junior?

Adams
- Prior to the draft on AFL media JT was very confident he'd get a good player in the 2nd round, was this the guy?
- Where did he rank on his board
- What injuries has he had and have they been corrected?
- How's his athleticism - 2km, agility, 20m sprint

Verrall
- Do they like his forward game?
- Did the sub rule and the ongoing likelihood of 2 rucks increase the importance of having 2 developing rucks

Sestan
- did they have athletic testing on him?
- was this the most wild pick he's ever made?
- how was his form at Xavier?
- are the rumours he worked over George Wardlaw at the training session true?
- why draft him rather than get him down to training for summer?

Burgoyne/K. Turner
- how long will they train for?
- are the coaches far more involved in deciding a list spot once a player is training?

General
- Excluding JVR who we expect to see soon and the first year kids, who debuts first from Howes, Laurie, D Smith, Taj, AMW, McVee?

questions for jason:

  1. how has covid affected the talent pool coming through, particularly in victoria, with two years of lack of exposed form across 2020 and 2021 in particular?
  2. every year the media narrative seems to be 'next year is a bumper draft for talls / mids / talent' etc. - do you actually see a difference in draft classes over the course of your time as a recruiter?
  3. how far out from draft years do you start assessing junior careers? i.e. under-13s or earlier?
  4. how do you assess our future father-sons (and father-daughters, mother-sons, and mother-daughters) that will be emerging over the next period of time?
  5. with the expansion of aflw, do you have any visibility of future recruiting pathways for aflw as well as aflm, or do you solely focus on the men's game?

A simple one:

Was the club disappointed with the draft capital we got in return from Fremantle for Jackson?

Were we expecting better and if so what was the ‘worth’ we had in mind.

Another simple one.

Now that we know we will have 2 firsts and 2 seconds going into next years trade/ draft period does it give him more enthusiasm for that draft and how does he rate it at this early stage?

Can we also run a market to see if he says “good as gold” at the end of the interview?

Does he already have players in mind for our picks in next year's draft.

Has Hogan and now Jackson going home to WA impacted decisions on recruiting WA players if talent etc is even. Did it impact the decision not to take Allen.

Did the intended move to a tactical sub have any impact on the makeup of the list and the recruiting

Was Taylor aware of Jefferson's father being 199 cm, and was that noted as a possible upside to his recruitment?

On Adams, did we have multiple options open at this pick or where we just hopeful that he would fall through to us?

Sestan - having not come through traditional pathway, when and how did he decide to nominate for the draft?

Will we expect to see behind the curtin footage of MFC draft nights etc - i love these!

Cheers!

It is Goody that likes the inside bulls and IMO JT is carrying out that wish and the fact that most mids are contested beasts snd not outside speedsters.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
