Dogga is a big kid and he is happier at home with his mates, mum and family. Good luck to him and even better luck for us. We have come out of this better off and his efforts last year showed he wasn't as good as we hoped he'd be, long term anyway. 

Look back to what he was doing before he took up football over basketball, why did he do that, maybe to be close to his family, no moving to the US, a couple of hours away from home at worst playing football.

I have no issues with that I only hope he falls to the bottom of the well with FREO, nothing personal only self interest.

I don't boo anyone but Umpires and opposition players that do harm to Melbourne players.

Wow. You just unlocked a part of my memory I totally forgot about. It wasn't a nice homecoming for the Wiz that day.

A few years later he torched us at the G and then made a bit of a taunt towards Melb fans but it did seem a bit forced.

Having said all that it’s a long year and I note the significant egg that has been plastered on certain posters faces with the “What they’re saying” threads from the Brisbane and Essendon games. 
 

What I don’t get is the angst LJ is getting for leaving whilst at the same time being derided as an ordinary player. It’s a win win for us, let’s thank him for that and cheer!

I am not reading back into this thread to find the reason you appear to have fixation upon, seeming to be playing when not fit enough  ( you may call it injured). 

Unless you were under a rock from June to September last season more than half the Demons played with niggles, lack of full fitness and/or genuine injuries managed to players we couldn't do without.  On that basis nearly all our Premiership heroes would be disgraced and booed by yourself.  And after all Jacko last year was a third year player who helped win a drought breaking flag when just a colt who played out of his skin in the GF and some times during 2021 and 2022. 

Boo if you like but you are crying like a toddler that can't get his preferred toy for Christmas or not able to buy ice cream when being pushed around in a trolley at the supermarket. 

And his manager made him play? oh please it would have much more likely been our selectors Coach or FD based on the myriad of players that were adjudged fit to play in Rounds 12 to the Semi Final. 

Never mind Gawndy you were under that rock after all and are sort of excused, but not for booing LJ who is thankfully a 19 yo well performed premiership heroe for us.

For me personally it’s that he met with Freo at the mid season bye. He was allowed to go home by the club during the bye and he met with Freo. Nice way to say thanks imo.

Scully did that with GWS and from Barrassi to Jacko I would be surprised that it didn't happen with more than 50% of players that left us during that period. In other words it's more the norm and I believe we should take into account on the PRO side of the equation as well and treat the player accordingly. As Ken Hinkley said He is a 19 yo kid!!! Applies just as aptly.

Reiterating; I have zero hate for Jackson. We've done very well out of the trade, and the gain of Grundy - which was only possible because of the hole Jackson left - is an unmistakable improvement that may yet shape our premiership tilt this year and for a few to come.

I'm not sure any club has 'won' any trade more completely since the Trent Croad move.

Meanwhile, I checked the scores of Port v West Coast and my brain is automatically working out how each win by a 'mid-range' team puts a ceiling on any Fremantle climb back up the ladder.

I'm very happy that Freo is struggling this year and therefore enhancing our draft position. And I'm very happy that Brodie Grundy has come to the club and right now, in our flag window, he offers consistently more than Luke Jackson.

The reality is that Jackson is a younger, better version of Grundy and is destined to become a very, very good player.

I definitely don’t hate LJ as he is a Demons premiership player, and I’m at peace with it now because we have benefited from the deal.

Jacko left for a huge payday and to be close to mum and dad, but unfortunately what that does is put him under an enormous amount of pressure to perform .

Staying with the Dees , he still had some good mates and playing in a better team, didn’t have to be a focal point as such.

His choice to leave , and everything that comes with it including pressure and criticism is part of the path he chose for himself.

Are you sure your not LJs manager / agent or mother? 

Not sure what your fixation is on a defending a player that has defected to an opposition team.

I think social media is much more toxic than booing at the game. Not saying booing is right but some of the stuff written on social media would be very hard to take.

he certainly leapt into the fire and made a rod for himself, but that is now his problem. karma, que sera and all that lot.

Players can and do avoid social media as much as their wont.  Constant, weekly booing is just a form of bullying.  Group of 10yr olds do it.  But if it makes you feel better, go for it children. 

Blind hypocrisy here. On one hand plenty of AFL fans say that they apparently care about mental illness but then totally oblivious that they might be part of the problem when they pile on repeatedly beyond once or twice.

At the moment it’s looking likely come round 10 that at best Freo will be 3-7 or 4-6, that’s season over. Particularly given they still would have played only one (St Kilda) of the current top 6 to that point. The question for us is do they then fall apart and give us a great draft pick, I hope so and will be deathriding then.
But anyone thinking they are likely finalists is pretty brave, watching them these first 5 weeks they are a very ordinary side playing a very predictable brand of footy. The question now is not whether they make finals, it’s can they turn it around enough to save their coach. Not a fun situation. 
They’ve also had a pretty good run injury wise, their midfield has been pretty fit, worrying if one of them goes down.

Freo have improved each year with him as coach except for this year. He should be given another year to turn it around.

And anyways I think list management has been as big a factor in their drop off this year as game plan. List management is Peter [censored]'s responsibility. I reckon he should go before Longmuir.

I think there are two realistic scenario’s. One is that they still ‘think’ they can make finals  and play the same brand and fail miserably given a tougher 2nd half draw that will really capitalise on their weaknesses. Two is that they finally acknowledge that their game plan is out-of-date and they want to get ahead start for 2024 and change mid-season. They’ll most likely get a few hidings and potentially drop a few more games but will fair better in 2024. 

It will take a brave call either way.

Jesse Hogan gave us much better service then Jacko and there were boos when he stepped foot on the MCG in 2019.

LJ played in our first premiership for 57 years, and many think he played a very important part in securing it during that third quarter.  That’s a very significant difference between LJ and Hogan.

For some the “I’ll never boo a premiership player” will be enough.  I’ve always thought how well we did in the trade would be very decisive for some potential boo-ers .  Looking ok right now, but in the end you’re probably right. All clubs have nuffies that will boo, some for the pantomime, some because they’re jerks.

Live, it looked really crude. He got sandwich and it was hard to see the head knock. Went down and incredibly no free.

He was dazed when he got up but was still asking about the free.

Assuming that was the incident, he stayed on for at least a few minutes longer.

Freo has consistently failed to develop players. It’s not unreasonable to suggest that Jackson won’t reach his ceiling while playing for them. He certainly isn’t learning from any good KPF down there and he’s getting minimal ruck time because Darcy is a very good player.
