The unashamed Freo bias from a reporter in a paid capacity is what gets under my skin.

Lol c'mon mate...

He's a paid commentator/journo. He's doing exactly what he's paid to do and that's simply give his opinion.

You say he's an unashamed Freo bias but yet he was the one that actually question the Luke Jackson trade instead of fawning over it like many other WA journo's

Death riding or no death riding, I will be watching the same number of Fremantle games as Melbourne games. I will be rooting for injuries and one sided umpiring. I wish them the same luck as any team based in Buffalo.

I’m not familiar with the meaning of “death riding”. But a tennis commentator just said he’d spent all week death riding Djokovic. I still don’t know what it means.

It means hoping for failure.

Deathride in this context is to be wishing on the downfall of whatever teams pick you own, not really sure where it originates from but has become the common phrase used in pick swap scenarios. You'll find various threads on other footy forums 'deathriding' other teams i.e Swans have one for Hawthorn, as they own their 2nd rounder next year

Peter Bell liked using the feather in cap phrase to describe his many trade 'wins' & accomplishments

Here's the answer I got from adonski, @Fanatique Demon, to this and the feathered cap aspect.

I think the best we can hope for is Freo to finish 7th - 9th.

I think this coming season
Crows
Bombers
Giants
Suns
Hawks
North
Port
Saints
Eagles
I think these nine teams will only trouble each other, Port, Crows and the Suns might get the odd scalp but that’s about it.

Port will improve this year (JHF, Rioli) and suns are getting closer but can’t really argue with the rest

We have not even seen 1 round of 2023 and some comments are predicting Fremantle to drop but there is a major difference between practice matches and the real thing since coaches experiment during this period to see players play in different positions.

Fremantle has a very good onball players who as the season progresses will get better with games since most of them are very young.

I hope they drop but no matter what we have 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks and looking at the herald sun this morning there is a lot of players to like in the top 40.

he's right about their forward set-up. Lobb gone, Fyfe always injured and Taberner battling. Jackson a good option in the ruck but no way can carry the goal kicking burden. They will struggle to kick scores to win matches this season. No finals this year i reckon (and hope)

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
