Looks like they might have received a swag bag delivery from the club that most likely included the jumper Oliver is wearing so they could take a photo for the socials and it might have also included that scarf. Or either they or a friend are Dees supporters and they supplied the scarf.

That is a lovely shot of Oliver and his mum and as someone already mentioned he could become an MFC folklore legend.!!!

Good pick up. Most would not notice it.

I remember watching JT's comments before the rookie draft.  Said we were looking at 1-2 players, and it would depend on who was available.  Clearly, we had some interest in Sestan, but if he was off the table we wouldn't have picked up another rookie.

Might need to cool our jets a bit.  Guy looks like he could be a great get, but lets see him play a couple of games at Casey first.  If he wasn't on anyone's radar, there might be some growth needed.

While everyone is understandably focusing on his Mansfield performances, it looks like he was regularly amongst the best and a regular goalkicker for Xavier last year they won the APS - https://www.oldxavs.com.au/post/xavier-wins-aps.  That's a good sign and probably more indicative given that it

He's in a bit of a similar positon to Jayden Hunt - late pick, school footy.  If he's a contributing best 22/fringe player like Jayden I would be very happy.

Good advice Willy. I remember the frenzy on here when we selected Fraser Rosman. It all goes a bit over the top. I mean, I think I had Fraser pegged for winning the Brownlow this year.

The great comment from JT was that we don’t expect the draftees to play early, but rather to just develop their games.

That is just so different to the old Melbourne, where we would say that hopefully draftees would play some games next year.

It is the best policy and the wisest stance to take. We are fortunate with our recruiting in all regards, thanks to JT. We now have a supply of very good footballers - almost across the field of engagement - and from JT's point of view for us to all appreciate, a pool of decided talent that can mature, be enriched as footballers on the learning curve and be granted player-appropriate timeframes in which to blossom for the call. Healthiest start to a season for the Dees, unprecedented in the past.

I really hope he makes it.  What with Hibberd (Hibbard, Hibbert, Hippo etc) close to retirement the list does need players who no one can spell.  Whilst Jordon/Jordan is ok for a backup I do think that Sestan/Seston/Sestin/Sextin has massive potential.

I had a look at his “Casey highlights” from the weekend.
He certainly looks a natural footballer - if he can gain full AFL fitness and strength in the next preseason, together with footy development at Casey this year he just looks like he could be a genuine steal.
A very exciting prospect though I acknowledge that rookie drafts are generally quite speculative and that highlights are just that, highlights.
Will follow with great interest.
Any further thoughts from Casey watchers?

This is the boke that kicks like Modra, because if it is, he could really be something from small take.

100% agreed.

Ollie Sestan is genuinely talented.

I watched the Casey Demons VFL match online and Ollie reminds me of Leigh Matthews with his build and those strong hips that can break tackles easily.

This year I think he just needs to continue working away at VFL level with no pressure or expectations on him and next season we can see if he can also get fit enough to play in the midfield.

First year in the system. He appears to have that “ something” about him. But he also looks like he needs a lot of fitness work. Once upon a time Clarry had the same look… so lets hope he has something close to the same discipline and drive.

I'm barracking for the story as much as anything. Even if he was at another club it will be nice to see there is still a place for the talented character footballer in a regimented conveyor belt world.

I think you mean Allen Jakovich

Or Alan Jaković in Croatian ... and the subject of this thread would be Oliver Šestan (pronounced Shestan) 🤓

A good debut...

The beauty about Casey this season is that it will be the kids with a handful of veterans that are driving the team.

Last season it was the vets.

We may not win it but we will have a good idea on our depth and where the list sits at the end.

Sestan can play.

I he has the will to do it he will be a really good story.

Dane Swan???

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
