Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pointless post.

Why is it pointless? It's true. We were streaming downfield and then a regulation chip pass doesn't hit it's target, next thing we lose our key forward. I'm not blaming Sparrow but it's bloody frustrating after what was a frustrating first half with players going half arsed.

'Cooked' is a tediously overused term. Suggest it be put in the fridge.

Off topic, I'll grant you, but 'cooked' perfectly describes James Harmes. My goodness he has declined as a player.

Like your optimism and excited for Jefferson in the future... but a bit worried he would be snapped like a twig at this stage 😂

If JVR could notget a game a year ago when we were in desperate straits up forward there is zero chance of us debuting Jefferson this year

I mean I’m no expert but judging Petty’s spirits after the game I highly doubt it’s a long term injury.

I misread this as sprints and thought that there was an excess of pessimism here.

I don't get why some people would facepalm this. Obviously Petty is first choice but who else is left. Fritta of course but that only gives us one tall. It ain't gonna be Bbb, schacke or Tmac.

Dunno - Schache could be an answer up forward if someone can give him some angry pills.

He's ready to play but imv would need at least a week or two at Casey to gain match fitness and form before being seriously considered.

Earliest would be Rnd 23 but more realistically the final round vs the Swans IF he can get his match fitness / form at Casey to a level that warrants a call up.

Tom McLazarus!!??

Tom would certainly attack with all his ability. And he does have firm.

If it is mid foot it is either a fracture or a Lisfranc. Goody was very clear it isn't ankle and given the injury he had mid season which was a ligament I reckon Harrison has a fair idea of the severity. I doubt we will see him again this season.

Even with a mid foot sprain it's still 4-6 weeks

I'd like nothing more than TMac to get a game and wind back the clock. For me only BBBB and TMac can play with JVR if were only playing 2 out and out tall forwards.

When Fritta comes back in it'll be very interesting to see what mix they go with. Can't deny that Milkshake has shown his class lately.

I don't think it's time to go with Grundy yet.  having said that goody might want to give it a go pre-finals to see how it looks again, potentially with Max having more ruck minutes than he did earlier in the year when they both played

Such incredibly bad luck for Harry just as he was hitting top form as a forward. I think it’s time for Grundy. Especially against Carlton with their two rucks (Pittonet, De König) Max needs a chop out and Brodie has done his four week forward craft/freshen up.

Brodie won’t give us what Petty does but he will give a contest and hopefully a few marks, possibly one or two goals but importantly he’ll give a lot in the ruck and allow JVR to play forward the whole game. He also lets Max drop behind the ball more while Brodie takes more forward half throw ins also.

Of all our options this one has the most possible upside in terms of a flag now that Petty looks to be done. We’re winning clearances now and getting plenty of supply, clean up our kicking and Grundy will contribute, it’s become overblown how big a ‘problem’ he was forward. There were games like our Collingwood win and other early season wins where he kicked multiple goals and looked good coming back from a full season off. Our last Carlton win relied on Grundy rucking so Max could hit the scoreboard as a forward, it can work! Brodie’s hungry, he’s learned some new skills, let’s go for it, while hoping Petty has a miracle sprain and is back for finals.

Very true, however my mail is LIsfranc which is just awful.

Someone from within the club on the Foxtel coverage, was saying that it’s a recurrence of the foot injury he had earlier this year that kept him out for six weeks.

Lisfranc/midfoot sprains can have varying grades of course.

The “typical” lisfranc is a full rupture + fracture dislocation which sounds just as bad as it is. This is the one you hear about taking ages to recover as it takes a lots of metalwork to get it all put back together which creates other problems.

You can have a mild Lisfranc sprain which is just a sprain of the Lisfranc ligament which is treated more normally as a more severe sprain, making sure that the stability of the foot is there before returning to sport. this is more in the 5-8 week category.

Going from Goodwin’s press conference a few weeks ago he let slip his last injury was a Lisfranc this year which took bang on 6 weeks to recover. I can’t remember if this one is the same foot or not? If it is then it might add a few weeks to the recovery but fingers crossed.

There are a few other physio on here so feel free to add if you have any other views!

This sucks for Petty and is very rough for us, for the reasons we all are well aware of.

It undoubtedly does. But it's conceivable that Petty wouldn't have a premiership medal if it weren't for Tomlinson's knee injury (suffered at the same dung-heap I believe). The reverse may play out this year. Smith was another who could be considered unfortunate to miss out in 2021, due to chronic bad luck with injuries, and may just take Petty's place, due to the latter's current chronic bad luck with injuries. Karmic rebalancing is the best positive spin I have.

How does it go from Syndesmosis to lisfranc?

Because it’s not an ankle it’s a mid foot injury according to Goody.
Doesn’t mean it’s a lisfranc. It can’t be diagnosed until they get medical imaging done. It’s only a guessing game now.
I am sure the dreaded injury report will be out soon enough to give us more bad news.

I'm scared it's both high ankle and the mid foot. From the vision at the time and the way it moved I would have sworn ankle.

Another day of sweating, I hate football.

He was pointing and holding his foot on the bench so it appears to be the foot. But who knows.

The footy gods are cruel bastards. Took us 19 rounds to settle our forwardline and two weeks later it’s blown up in our faces. It’s just the worst!

The way his ankle moved I was certain ligaments overstretched. If they didn't then that is something to hang the hat on.

Obviously the foot stuff could be terrible though. I need help.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
