Sorry for my ignorance, but would 5 weeks mean available for first final? R22-24 plus a week break.

First final would be just under 5 weeks away - so touch wood he could be available but more likely  to see him either in a PF or Semi

Either way 5 weeks is a massive win considering what the injury could have been

Win our next three and bed down our forward structure - either someone performs or we have Petty come back in and keep tearing it up

Mid foot injury scans confirmed,

Surgery tomorrow,

5 weeks out,

Grundy with a week to show his wares before Fritta is ready. Potential for Smith to go back forward also.

So he could be back for semifinals or PF.

4 weeks gets us to the week leading into Round 1 of Finals at which point he'd be 4 weeks and 4 or 5 days into recovery calculated from time of surgery tomorrow.

If we win week 1, then he should be available for the PF and gives him an extra week to do rehab and fitness work.

And his treatment back then was amputation across the mid foot! Thank heavens he isn’t our club doctor!

If that diagnoisis is being accurately reported what's your sense of the recovery time he will need? Surely a player would lose a lot of fitness having to be off their foot for so long?

In my opinion. Petty is far too valuable an asset to consider playing again this year.

he has been just a bit injury prone in a couple of recent games.  No wonder his foot was sore kicking 6.  And I don’t think he has been fully fit. Just my opinion

but he seems to have proven he can play forward!  Quite well at that.  So put him away until next year,

Looking forward to fighting for grand final tickets go dees !!

Don’t risk playing Petty in finals for what? To save him for future finals?

He has to prove his fitness and we shouldn’t jeopardise his career if there’s a specific concern but otherwise if he’s available to play there’s no point holding him back

I'd like nothing more than TMac to get a game and wind back the clock. For me only BBBB and TMac can play with JVR if were only playing 2 out and out tall forwards.

When Fritta comes back in it'll be very interesting to see what mix they go with. Can't deny that Milkshake has shown his class lately.

I don't think it's time to go with Grundy yet.  having said that goody might want to give it a go pre-finals to see how it looks again, potentially with Max having more ruck minutes than he did earlier in the year when they both played

Im in the opposite camp, I would ruck with Grundy for 60% of the game and play Max as deep forward option!

Best news possible.

Just need everything to go right for once and no recovery setbacks!

How confident are you of Fritta's return in round 24?

this reminds of plugger mac trying to come back for finals last year

ultimately we chose not to risk him as, at the end of the home and away season last year, we were actually going okay and finding a way to get the wins without him

Sam Edmund reporting that it’s a Lisfranc injury.

He should have read Demonland first. ;)

Big difference is that Tmac was in poor form prior to injury, and not in fact, solving our key forward issues by dominating up forward.

We were also carrying too many players who were battered and bruised, so adding another one was too big a risk.

I suspect we will push extremely hard to bring Petty back for finals. No chance we don't 'risk' him if we make a prelim and he's ok to play.

5 weeks is a great outcome imo!

So we're definitely confirmed as Grundy as the replacement?

Thanks for the info btw

Any more info on this @Dannyz? Is it possible to have a Lisfranc injury that can be played through within 5 weeks?

He’s made a huge difference to our forward setup. If he’s fit he plays. No question about that.

Lisfranc does not make sense based on webbers explanation. Reckon Sam Edmunds has got it wrong

I’m just going to wait for MFC media to confirm. Sam has been wrong on his injury info previously.

This isn’t true Jaded. T Mac was starting to hit some very good form when he came back into the team  after his omission last year. He came back in for R7 and got hurt in R10. In those 3 and a bit games he kicked 11.7.

If we use Joel smith in his spot and bring Thommo back down back, that would work.

We could also use this as an opportunity to bring in Grundy and see what works the next three weeks until fritta comes back.
