2023 Injury List

That is a really salient point, that emotional posters either don't know, or choose to forget.

The injury list is THE biggest predictor of premiership success.

I also hope that all your follow up posts also take this into account... because all your previous certainly don't.

But also the fact we took our chance in 2021 relieves the pressure moving forward.

I just hope we can keep the rest of the list fit and keep our top 4 spot.

If we do, we're still a huge chance this year. Just need to start converting our chances in front of goal.

We’ve got 2 injured players, one will be back in a month. It’s far from panic stations. We’re 4 kicks from having 3 more wins. Let’s just beat the Saints and go from there

Which one ? Asking for a friend

Still the best team we have fielded in my lifetime, and people still get upset, looking purely at the W/L column. It's far more nuanced than that. We're not far off it at all.

Imagined if we weren't conditioned to sensationalist media... 🤷‍♂️

Injuries are injuries they are part and parcel of the game, all i want from the lads is to be composed kicking into the forward line and kicking for goal.

Create our own luck and good fortune.

Positivity is what we all require.

Woey in lets get behind the lad, injuries create opportunity.

Lets be brave.

Get amongst it Dees.

We need to go 3-5 to play finals and hope Essendon and Fremantle fall off the cliff.

We will most likely 9-9 in 3 week and outside the 8, repeat of 2017 and 2020 coming up

I'm surprised the loss of Fritta hasn't got more concern around here.     Clarry's absence has been covered remarkably by Trac and JV this last month.  But both are elite at what they do so it's not hugely surprising.

Little concerned who exactly is going to take marks inside our forward 50 and have those shots at goal.  After Fritta (30), out next best is Pickett (22) then it drops off.   This isn't simply about a ball movement/game plan issue.   The next player in is nowhere near the calibre of AA that Fritta is.  Imo really need Grundy or Gawn to snag a few this week.  The back up Saints ruckman from hit outs is Mitch Owens. Yes, that Mitch Owens.

If you are paying $1.4 mln for 2 guys against a first year midget they better win you a game like this or at least dominate on the scoreboard.

Our forward half has been unworkable, just maybe his absence creates some out of the box thinking and we improve.

As a football club these last 4 years we have a history of playing players when injured. Goodwin has even spoken about this as well. The idea that the club made the best decision possible for the health of Oliver by letting him play a quarter after pulling it and by getting him running so soon after has no doubt hindered his recovery as much as getting an infection did.

I don't care if the infection did a number on his recovery, that's bad luck. I don't care if he's arguing with a physio, that's passion. I don't care if he heals slower than the expected time frame, it is what it is.

I do care that the club did something I've never seen other professional organisations across all codes do when a hamstring injury occurs. The club needs to answer that.

The stats tell a different story. We should have beaten Geelong, GWS and Freo. The culprit was kicking accuracy. Trac is usually the player with the highest scoring involvements and he is still playing.

We have Contested footy in all three of those games (I think) and outside the brain fart in the 4th at Kardinia we were dominant.

IMO the issue is our forward mix and confidence in set shot kicking. Gawn at FF is not working and the sooner the coaching staff realise this and change it, the better. We have to be more mobile and something like BB at FF, JVR, Smith,  Melksham, Kozzy and Chin are setup to do that. The solution however doesn’t stop there, the delivery is important and we have to honour short kicks into the 30-40m zone.

Completely agree. Kicking accuracy inside 50 to a target and towards goal has been the whole issue.

Fix that and we enter 2021 finals form.

It’s not the brains trust it’s the reality. It appears we’re going small this week. I don’t mind it, it’s as much the kick into the forwards as it is the forwards who need to improve. Yes I’d of liked JVR in the side but you can’t argue with his management this season. Couple of weeks to freshen up playing VFL, get Melk his 100 and hopefully Brown finds some form. If he can become a 2-4 goal a game player we’ll be a lot better off.

Unfortunately with the Oliver news, it is what it is. Need to move forward now and continue to find ways to think our midfield.

I think the positive is that our midfield has actually held up better then I thought. We're still beating teams in contested possessions and centre clearences so not like our strength around the ball has dropped.

Still think we can be better by adding Pickett in there and giving more midfield opportunities to say Salem or Rivers.

Seems like we’re not allowed to talk about this, but what is going on?

The way that our Best  & most important player has been looked after & treated has been diabolical

First nicks his hamstring, then is seen running a day later

Then hospitalised for 5 days with a infected toe & releasing himself

Then the online trolling about drug taking, with the Coach taking waaay to long to back his player & shut down the rumours

Public arguments  with the fitness staff

Promises of playing every week since the Kings birthday & now talk about him missing a least another  month & now talking about his hamstring tendon

This feels like a very public soap opera unfolding  in front of our eyes

I feel so sorry for Clarry the way he’s been treated & how unprofessional the football club has been

Over 10 weeks out for gods sake

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
