Anyways a great effort to get that close but unfortunately poor goal kicking cost us. should have won by 100 points

Daisy's last 2 possessions were terrible the way she used the footy. Ugh so close to miss out on top spot. •3. 

But on a positive note what a great win. To keep the opposition to only a behind is great.

4.1 in the last the girls really bought it home, very strong effort and to get within .3% of Brissie is huge given the massive lead they accrued early in the season.!!

One has to question why one feels so flat after a 78 point win. I hope we play Adelaide at Casey next week.

Gee, windy day with some slippery conditions and people are blaming Daisy for her last-minute choice and missing a pin-point pass. 

Winning by 80 or so was always a huge task and they only just missed it. C'est la vie.

Yep thought when she had the ball on the boundary she could have just swung around and kicked it & even if she didn't get the distance it could have been marked or punched through.

They seemed satisfied with 2nd spot but I just feel towards the end they should have been gunning for top spot.

Four goals in the last quarter, I thought they were! The weakest quarter was the 2nd.

Meanwhile, their possible opponent next week, in somewhat better conditions, has kicked 0.2.2 to half time against St Kilda.

she didn't realise she needed the point. tried to square it to improve the angle. understandable

they were going for it the whole game. They were taking on 50/50 kicks into the corridor right from the get-go

Our goal kicking cost us ultimately.

Really proud of the girls...what a great season they've had.

Well coached and well led on field.

Some real pluses are Goldy running into some form, Zanker starting to realise her ability and Heath on ball and as a tagger. Special mention to Makin who is getting better by the game, really works hard back and forward from her wing.

We're set up for a good finals campaign, let's hope we can go all the way this time.

So ultimately this means the Lions at the Gabba in GF if we both get through. Only real opponent that can cause an upset are the Crows but they have been pretty average this year bar flashes of brilliance.

Of course she didn't. Even the commentators didn't know until after the game so there was no way known Daisy would have.

As you say, she played is the way they played the game and it was the right call.

commentators said we needed 4.3 to 0 in the last to claim top spot - if daisy had gone for the goal and missed it still wouldn't have been enough; she absolutely did the team thing squaring it up, she just didn't hit the target

no more games at casey this season, due to renovations the change rooms are about to be torn out, it'll be an ikon park job i believe, the home of footy (W) and a more enclosed arena could only improve our performances one might think

We actually needed 4.2 to 0 in the last so a behind would’ve sufficed.

In the last quarter a few of our members were at the fence yelling out to our forwards what was needed: three more goals, two more goals etc. In the last minute or so the increased noise level meant they weren’t being heard so instead we were chanting “any score” in unison and as loud as possible. Katie Hore heard us as did a couple of others but unfortunately Daisy mustn’t have. ☹️

With 34secs to go and her distance from goal in the wind, it was the right decision but from what I saw on tv the leading player misjudged and ran under it or Daisy kicked it too far.   Over the course of the game we has ample opportunity .

They said before the game, the team focus was defence (getting ready for finals), I think they achieved their goal.

I kind of wish this had been our first game of the season just so we could have had a four-digit percentage.

Tell you what, if this is the way things go when we really put everything into attacking, sign me up for more.

Great home and away series by the MFC AFLW team. Even a blow out game like today had plenty of drama and entertainment value. One point, loved that they got themselves into a place where they nearly did it. How was Taylor?  Nearly made it happen, Lauren with her snap out of the ruck, the same, and Daisy going for the percentage play instead of aiming to bring home the chocky's.

We have so much to like about our team. Our ball movement is aggressive, and must worry the other teams. Skills by foot and hands, our attacking back-line who intercept and trust each other. If not Birch, then it's Gillard, with support from Lampard and Gay. The engine room with Purcell, Hanks and West. Our talls doing lots of ground play and the one percenters. We take marks all over the ground (Birch, Taylor, Zanker, Hore) and we have a few who take it on with run and pace (Bannan, Goldy, Zanker, Lampard, Heath). Then there's Paxy who has grown as an outside runner, Heath is just getting better and her role play along with Mithin continues to stop the opposition. We tackle hard and give others very little space, that pressure ensures turnovers. The kicking of Taylor, Gay, Hore and Gillard is beautiful. There's still growth as we are a young team with, Chaplin, Fitzsimmons, Macklin, Sherrif, holding their own

Get our goal conversion right and we dominate.

Was out at Casey today. The girls were terrific. The lack of game awareness from Daisy at the end was very disappointing. It basically means we have given away any chance of hosting a GF in Melbourne. As others have pointed out though, we missed some very easy shots on goal in the first 3 quarters.

You'd think the AFL might be privately disappointed that they're now looking at a Queensland GF with the likely venue being Metricon in front of two girls and a dog. They'd get 10+k at Marvel.

Did anyone else hear the rumour mentioned on this week’s AFLW Dee Brief poddy that the GF will be played at Docklands regardless of who makes it?

Hi Deemented. If that's true then my guess is that it was a late call by the AFL when they saw Brisbane were likely to finish top and not be able to host at the Gabba. Likewise if Adelaide had finished top there is no way they'd be telling them the GF is moving to Melbourne.
