I donโ€™t think Tom would want to change numbers. He won a premiership playing in his current number.

I also donโ€™t think Joel would want #29 as thereโ€™s the potential for comparison to his dad.ย

Keep 32 Tom.

You share it with another Dees player who won a Premiership at 21 years of age - Barry Vagg.

Cam Bruce played a lot of footy in 32 also.ย  It was good for T.Watson and M.Ricciuto.ย  It has got some weight.

eagle eyed observes would've seen grundy in 6, hunter 12, schache 19 and KFW ?7 (looked like 17 to me...however the only one that would make sense would be 47 due to availability) in the recent training gallery and footage, a matter of we had them in stock due to who wore them last year or an indication of their 2023 numbers i wonder

I think more sizes from previous seasonย

6 Jackson to Grundy

12 Bedford to Hunter

19 Rosman to Schache

Mostly like for like height wise.ย

I reckon Jefferson would look good in 12.

I am always amazed by these threads on player numbers. It isย  a subject I have little if any interest in. As long as the playerย  plays well I don't care if the player he wears is 1 or 99. Can someone explain the interest in what number a player wears?ย

can you explain why youve come here to contribute nothing and grumble rather than just clicking on a thread that does interest you and reading that instead? its interesting and a bit of fun

with Chandler getting promoted to the senior list, he might be โ€œupgradedโ€ to a lower number

You already have half of them wrong. Grundy is 6, Hunter is 12, Schache is 19 and Farris-White is 47. Interesting to see what numbers Jefferson, Adams, Verrall and Sestan are.

Ok. ย I didnโ€™t read anywhere that MFC had already had numbers allocated. ย

I wouldn't take those numbers as gospel, pretty sure they were wearing this year's training kit so it was more a size fit than anything else.

I could see us Holding on to 2 for a bit longer and having Jones present it to a player at a more special time, could evenย  offer it to a Sparrow or maybeย  Chandler if he has a good season

6. Grundy

12. Hunter

19. Schache

28. Sestan

33. Verrall (saw him wearing it in U18 footage)

38. Adams (saw him wearing it in U18 footage)

47. Farris-White (seems done already)

39 available for a potential pre season rookie selection.

2 & 29 remain available of all numbers between 1-42. 2 out of respect for Jones until a worthy recipient comes along. 29 just because.

I get the romantic notion of your suggestion but, seriously, how could a change of number possibly make the slightest bit of difference to a player's form or luck with injuries?

Superstitious nonsense. ย
In fact believing in ย superstitions always brings bad luck ๐Ÿ™„

The thing that stands out about this listing, for me, is that we have a hellishly good team. I don't think the players would give a flying pancake about the number on their backs - to be part of this team is a true achievement. We are really going to shake any opposition as we are starting to look like a team, regardless of the individuality associated with respective numbers.ย

New Demon numbers:

2 โ€“ Jacob van Rooyen (from No.21)

6 โ€“ Brodie Grundy

12 โ€“ Lachie Hunter

19 โ€“ Josh Schache

21 โ€“ Matt Jefferson

26 โ€“ Jed Adams

28 โ€“ Will Verrall

29 โ€“ Joel Smith (from No.44)

38 โ€“ Oliver Sestan

43 โ€“ Kyah Farris-White

Some surprises there with JVR now donning the #2 and J.Smith inheriting his old man's #29!

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
