It doesn't eventually, but for 20/22 year old key position players it does IMO (unless they're complete duds).

Where would Jackson go if he was in the draft this year? How about Naughton? Guarantee you 99% of people (outside of those on Demonland who have now turned on him and are desperate for a key forward) would have Jackson going first out of the two.

Yes - but that is still a reflection of what his perceived worth is now. Not what was initially paid for him.

Jackson - Pick 3, Rising Star winner, Premiership player, 20 years old.

Naughton - Pick 9, 22 years old.

I get it, I really want a key forward too and obviously people have 'turned' somewhat on Jackson on Demonland, but you guys are kidding yourselves if you think their worth on the market is the same.

Jackson worth higher then Naughton?

Sheesh.. I would say Naughton is every bit worth more then Jackson who realistically hasn't achieved the same on field output what Naughton has.

Naughton Kicked 47.40 as a 21 year old playing as their main full forward in a grand final year.

This year alone as a 22 year old Naughton kicked 51 goals whereas Jackson was poor.

His natural trajectory as a key forward is certainly sky rocketing towards being a 60-70 goal a year over the next few years. That alone is worth more then Jackson

The big talented key forwards is what teams will pay more their worth over a ruckman.

Guys like Naughton, Ben King, Max King and Harry McKay are gold nuggets that teams would happily cough up for a couple of first rounders as a starting point.

Rising Star, Premiership player.

Who would go first if they were being drafted this year?

Rate Naughton very highly, but we're talking market worth here.

I'll leave it at that, don't wanna back over it too many times. Understand if others have a differing opinion on Demonland.

Out of interest, does chook have good mail on this sort of stuff?

I mean, I'm sure we'd have interest and have reached out to a number of forwards' managers etc.

Why has this particular one grown legs on Demonland when not a word has been said in the media?

Jason Johannison would go first. Norm Smith, Premiership player

Do you really think clubs add a premium based on those? Lewis Taylor won a Rising Star. Jacob Townsend was an impactful player in a Premiership side. Club BnF finishes would hold more weight.

It's just an indication of the players worth on the market.

Let's not take this to silly places now with comparisons based on awards and premierships, we all recognize there's more to it than that alone right?

Anyways, we're not getting Naughton either way. I'm tapping out as promised.

It’s grown legs because of wishful thinking.

we’ve lost Jackson and will most likely have to pay overs and trade a first rounder for Grundy and are desperate for a forward. Getting Naughton in many minds softens those blows.

never mind that there is no noise whatsoever about Naughton anywhere in the media.

his face would be plastered on every trade wrap and whispers story like Jackson & Grundy. there is nadda about him.

Mods should close this thread. It ain’t happening.

Naughton is the best Under 23 Key forward in the game(better than both Kings),Bevo is a bit of a nutcase but there's no way he's leaving the Kennel.

Naughton would burn out in 1 season putting up with Goodwin's idiotic, repetitive Long Bombs all day!!!

Steven May kicks in to the same left flank all day, mids bomb the ball to the same spot all day.

Hmmm,i wonder why we went 6-8!!!

Naughton is a contracted FF who is 22. If we can give whatever we get for LJ to the Dogs for Naughton - we would do that in a heartbeat.

Firstly he is contracted and secondly he is exactly what we need right now.

Nudges rumours are more plausable than this thread.

Probably because the Trade Whisperer, ET, raised it. So it must be a done deal.

My post isn't for us.My post is into the mix

One difference LJ was a positive Naughton a negative as he didn't ever threaten to score goals ( too far away from FF) like HD did early doors in replay at G in Round1.  Stevie May got him agsin with Tmacs help.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
