Should easily place in their top 5 in the Eagles B&F.

Prescient!

Good on him. was a good move for him even though he had to endure beltings every week. He would've been further down the pecking order whether the emergence of Mcvee ( or maybe we don't get mcvees season if hunt stayed) hunt will get another contract extension you'd think and not sure he would've at Melbourne

What a depressing Season that must have been for Hunty.
Just like Jake Melksham, footy can be very cruel

Jayden might have been a chance for a game up forward this coming Thursday but I agree that he did the right thing in his move West

I wouldn't recognise half of those players even if they did a dump on my front lawn. *That could be more of a reflection on me

He wasn’t given a choice 😢

But it was the right thing for MFC.  It’s always frustrating when a fan favourite falls outside the best 23.

Agreed. It was the right thing for the Club. But not for him. I was making the distinction because to say he did the right thing moving to the west implies he wanted to go and therefore made a choice to go.

Anyways, he’s gone, and of course everyone here wishes him well. Fourth in their B&F is an achievement of which to be proud. I just miss him ‘s all. 🙁

He will have a more enjoyable season next year. No way WC could be as bad as they were.

Check our Top 10 B and F from ten years ago. Worse than West Coast I would think.

  Nathan Jones
  Colin Garland
  Dean Terlich
  Matt Jones
  Colin Sylvia
  Lynden Dunn
  James Frawley
  Jack Trengove
  Jeremy Howe
  Tom McDonald

Who’s Dean Terlich? Never heard of him lol.

Stoked for Hunty though, do miss him but glad he’s valued out West.

Most of those names were good players, but Dean Terlich!!! He was seriously one of the least game aware players you have ever seen.

But Col Sylvia is the sad one. Apart from his early passing, he had every football attribute you could ask for. Possibly the most wasted talent ever at MFC. Absolute gun who couldn't give everything he had to training and playing. O for what could have been!

So does his mum

Col had the power and talent of trac and a better kick for goal. Just never got the best out of himself for many reasons.

One of my favs even if somewhat inconsistent.

Keep in mind he was a big part of our drought breaking premiership year until injured.

In the statistical player ratings i keep he finished 14th that seaso, well inside the top 22.

He then dropped 14 places in 2022 to finish the season in 28th.  If only he was able to follow up his VG 21 season.

Still think we needed to keep one of him or Bedford, or even both.

He didn't have to go to West Coast

I’m sure she does Sam. I wonder who Alan will be barracking for Thurs night. He was Pies before JH was drafted. I suspect he’s reverted.

Hopefully he hasn't gone back to the dark side. If he has maybe a an exorcism is needed.

Where else was he gonna go? My point is he didn’t wanna leave us.

Well done Jayden. Based on this glad we didn’t get Gaff!

I’m frankly shocked he didn’t have more suitors. He was one ankle injury away from being a premiership player.
Essendon for one would have been a good fit. Not that Essendon is better than West Coast… at least he gets good weather in Perth 😂

Very true words. He could beat any opponent with speed and talent. Sadly missed.

i was too, but i think it was lack of finesse and footskills that put a lot of other sides off

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
