Last year I waited until we won the PF to put our colours out...didn't want to jinx our GF chances putting them out earlier.

This year, I'm wondering when to put them out: after this week's QF or wait to see if we make or if we win a PF.

I'm inclined to wait until we make a PF which could be this week.  What are other DL's planning?

Can't wait to put out my new very large banner:

Put it up!
If your team is in the finals then show your colours!
we could be out in straight sets but until then we are in it :)

Defs NOT before a prelim win.

There’s only one thing sadder than waiting ‘til dark to take down your many, many decorations, all the while crying, after a losing GF. And that’s doing the same after losing a semi or prelim.

Last year waiting till after the PF win gave us two weeks of flag flying because of the pre GF bye.

Think I'll put them up after we qualify for the PF which could be this week, next week or not at all.

Man around the corner painted this entire fence in Bulldog colours last year. I went round to buy the paper next morning and he had repainted back to white. He must have been up all night.

Crazy to wait until GF week, that'll only be 6 days of banner prior to our second flag.

I'm putting my banner up on friday i reckon.  I am preparing for less goodwill from the neighbours this year though. they all got on the board the poor demons last year but it will taper and if we win it again, I am looking forward to the hostility i receive next year!

I was gonna put this in last year’s Premiership merch thread but don’t wanna tempt fate.

I think Christian Salem should sue for defamation. How can he be the second least valuable player on that board?

My wife was dressing up our house last year in grand final week in red and blue for the game, I wasn't interested in any of it for this exact reason. Scars from 1988.

Needless to say, it stayed up for a long, long time afterwards.

They should have the Tribunal instead of Jail.

My miserable “un-decorating” was on GF night 2000. At the time I was living on a main road, very conspicuous house with so much exposure and flanked on either side by Essendon supporters. In fact, I lived in a neighbouring suburb of Essendon, so they were everywhere. When the traffic slowed to a crawl outside mine, some would yell abuse from their cars. Someone even egged my house! Yep, just another entry on my very, very long list of reasons for hating Essendon.

Bah! A problem for the  hoi polloi WCW. You can avoid mixing with the riff and riff by purchasing a luxurious manor in the splendid isolation of a bucolic rural setting.

And risk having the likes of you as a neighbour? Yeah nah, that’s the hugest bunch of NOPE right there.
I’d sooner live amongst the riff and riff. Whatever that means

Meh, it would be too easy to get out of.

I need this!!!

So in Sudan we have a vast fleet of white 4WD (sadly Toyotas and not Range Rovers, all of the old MFC stickers I have get stuck on a rear windshield whenever I travel to a new sub office. I was most chuffed when an Essendon supporter from another agency OCHA, was in Damazine and sent me a picture asking 'is this you?'. The other pics are from Finland on the ferry, driving around after the Carlton win with the scarf out the window.

Do you reckon he had the white paint ready?

  • NON-MFC: Round 12

Round 12 kicks off with the Brisbane hosting Essendon at the Gabba as the Lions aim to solidify their top-two position against an injury-hit Bombers side seeking to maintain momentum after a win over Richmond. On Friday night it's a blockbuster at the G as the Magpies look to extend their top of the table winning streak while the Hawks strive to bounce back from a couple of recent defeats and stay in contention for the Top 4. On Saturday the Suns, buoyed by 3 wins on the trot, face the Dockers in a clash crucial for both teams' aspirations this season. The Suns want to solidify their Top 4 standing whilst the Dockers will be desperate to break into the 8.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
