I have been to a lot of Melbourne Final over my lifetime. I have never been to one where they have lost. The fact that I could not get a ticket last week and can not get on this week has me worried.

We will pay for your ticket then or maybe take mine ;)

I’m hoping there’ll be some $35 GA tickets later today as I prefer to stand.

so bizarre that they control the bays individually and open them slowly

I also stand and wanted anywhere in Warne Stand Category 7.
Nothing available so got Ponsford for $40.
Not happy with that bought M2 for $60. Have since found out I can access M9 standing from Ponsford. If you want a cheap tik ($30) you can have the first one.

My brother used it to see me at Cats Pies. @Clayton spirit didn’t mention it was guarded. He was in M30 and I was at M55 standing room.

Yeah. Mentioned elsewhere. Handy to know but I reckon it’ll be manned.

Definitely wasn't manned on the weekend

About 9:50, got in 10:25. Also bought tickets to Pies Dockers for an 11:00 window. Logged on at 10:58, in at 11:03!

Seems completely random/lucky dip wait times.

Yep won't be jumping on that early again, just got lost in the system by the looks of it.

My daughter logged on on her computer at 10:00 and got held up, so logged in with her IPhone as well and got straight through, how weird.!

Got in at 9:08am and the best I could get for 3 members was row MM level 4. If it was Melb v Rich I could cop it. Not Melb v Bris. I'll take my chances on walk-up

And then I got bloody rippa seats for the Coll v Freo game! Cant win!

Same! Got three seats directly on wing on level 1 for that game. Not luck getting multiples anywhere other than level 4 for our game.

$35 shane warne stand tickets now available for anyone interested. Took 2 mins to book

I’m stuffed if I know why tickets now available weren’t available this morning. Makes no sense. I spent $60 more than if I had waited.

Very happy with P21, got 6 tickets too woo

FTB, if you see bays of unused Corporate tickets come on sale it would be greatly appreciated if you could post on here.

Cheers.

My experience this morning:

Logged on 9.00 got connected 9.10

Wanting 2 seats on Level 1 - none available

Went to Level 4  - got 2 in Row GG. Cancelled these

Tried again Level 4 - got Row Z. Cancelled these

Tried again Level 4 - got Row AA - Cancelled these . Determined Ticketek is a scam and throught try Level 1 again.

Five goes and no tickets available. Not even a single.

6th try Level 1 - Got Row , M47 - . Purchased. Punched the air.

What I learnt about Ticktek:

1. No Queue in place - no matter what they say.

2.  Absolutely random allocation (see level 4 booking patterns)

3. Entire ground not available all at once

4. When it says "none available", as it did when I tried for 1 ticket in Level 1, logically that menas sold out. And ground are should have read " allocation exhausted". No it doesn't. Coz its not , they are justing holding back.

5. Ticketek system is marginally fit for purpose and one rung above the NBN.

And we pay $7.70 for the priviledge.

I'm writing a strongly worded letter to Gil and the MCC just to make me feel better.

I can only repeat, what crap  Ticketek is.   Being a member and having early access to tickets before being opened to the general public means diddly squat. In fact you can be disadvantaged.

At 10 am I tried to book seats on level two  (I don’t like being on the terrace) but even though I chose level 2 (and the message was ‘seats available’) it always came up with seats in the terrace.  I tried this using both the premium and general member options. I canceled and tried again and again, it was bloody hopeless.

After exiting the system and logging back in I eventually got seats on the top tier in the Shane Warne stand (reasonably close to the front) when I elected general MFC member (not premium).  Could not get seats anywhere on level 2.

Just for the heck of it  I had a play  this arvo and I tried to get seats under ‘general admission’. I could have got seats on level 2! (which were not available earlier in the day)

The Ticketek system really sucks. And for all the non members getting good seats….Good on you, barrack hard!  I have no issue with you, just with effing Ticketek.

so stupid.  maybe they assume members only want to book expensive tickets?  All available bays should be open FCS!

hopefully you can sell off the other ticket

Ticketek having a lend with members vs general.

As others have stated, you're more often than not disadvantaged as a member (unless you are wanting to by tickets en masse!).

Last week on the Tuesday i clicked on M4 level one.  It clearly offered me those and i ordered 6 tickets.  It then did a gateway error 404 on me after i entered Cc details & hit the 'purchase' button.

So i figured i'd been unsuccessful and went to try again.  However, i then thought "hang on...better check Ticketek account just in case the error wasn't an error".

After logging on to my account...low and behold there's my 6 tickets.  Haha you beauty Newc i thought!   But wait... hang on a mini... why does it say bay M50 Level 4 Olympic Stand!?? 🤔

So instead of allocating me my Level 1 M4 bay seats right next to cheer squad (as selected)... it hopped me into Lvl Olympic 4 up with the seaguls during the supposed gateway error!

After a long winded episode filling out a refund form and chasing what appeared to be a dodgy contact who had English spelling / grammer issues representing Ticketek... i finally got my refund on the Thurs.  Then re-purchsed the correct 6 tickets after more Ticketek errors on the Friday.  I seriously figured these tickets would be incorrect also but with a sigh of relief they got this second attempt right.

All up i think i spent 2 hours getting on (twice), filling in details, filling in refund forms, correspondence back & forth between Ticketek contact etc.

What a shocking process / system they're running here.  What year is this again ....1992?

I tipped off a mate re not taking cr#p seats, try again and you may get better seats. He thanks me for that advice, got much better seats on the fourth attempt!!!!

Ridiculous system.. surely the best seats should be available to those who log on first.  The system simply allocates seats bay by bay .... so if you get offered bad seats,, don't take them. Keep trying until you get OK seats.

This is the most ludicrous system ever invented. I've never seen such confusion and frustration.

Such a load of crap.

Thanks for this Its very useful.

I too was in at 9.04am. Got 8 tix in M40 Row HH. Absolute Bulldust.

I didn't want to cancel the transaction though as I was arranging tickets for a bunch of friends and I though with 8 ppl it would be too risky to get them again.

I hate Ticketek

And whats worse is that the AFL blame Ticketek and Ticketek say its the AFL allocation policy they have nothing to do with it.

Classic BS beauracracy

I got one seat m6 level 1 smack bang in the middle of everyone

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
