bedford playing thru the midfield has a little bit of shai bolton about him

Unfortunately he can't kick like Shai Bolton. But seriously Bedford is nowhere near as polished as Bolton. Can't question his endeavour though.

JVR has a lot of raw talent. He reminds me a lot of Jack Riewoldt.ย
ย

He still needs time to develop though. Hopefully he gets a few games next year in the 1s but donโ€™t expect miracles for at least another 1-2 years.ย

Maybe I'm the world's worst judge but I think Weideman has been absolutely outstanding in this game. He has taken on two experienced campaigners in Ladhams and Sinclair and destroyed them. At ground level they haven't got near him. Must have a big tank as he has rucked throughout the day. This is his role. Back up ruck pinch hitting forward and back as required. Impressive.

Canโ€™t see T Mac playing Friday after this hit out. Been ok but needs another run

Bedfordโ€™s pressure and tackling has been immense. Some pressure on Spargo Iโ€™d suggest. A few less fumbles I reckon he should in the firsts

i dunno, they both miss their fair share of shots on goal!

can only see him playing if we lose the QF against the Swans and need to change up the forward line again for a semi final...

JVR has a real crack and looks good.

FD must have been tempted to give him a game during the season.

Iโ€™ve liked Samโ€™s game but Sinclair isnโ€™t near afl standard, heโ€™s well and truly ready to retire and has done a lot of the ruck work, and Ladhams isnโ€™t very clever. Weidโ€™s always been solid and clever at ground level as a follow up ruck.

A back up ruck at afl level still has to play forward about 50% of time and make an impact. And they have to stand up in the ruck for 20-50% against actual afl rucks or back ups, who provide a sterner test aerially around the ground.

Weid can do that role but whether he can do it consistently enough to hold his spot at afl level Iโ€™m not convinced .

Strange team Casey

50 point win but once again no one really starring in a pushing for selection sense

ย

I donโ€™t really think we are hoping for blokes to push for selection at this stage. The seniors are settled. If there are injuries though, we have some depth. Guys that play our system.ย

T-Macโ€™s wearing second-hand boots that he bought this morning from Facebook marketplace! ๐Ÿคฃ

Casey are a tough group of players Swans have been dishing it out all game and they are getting a good footy lesson. Very proud of our boys and how we play the game.!!!

I think the Weid is playing ok

Probably wonโ€™t please those with the โ€˜Weidicideโ€™ agenda but Campbell Brown on 7 suggested with โ€˜Jackoโ€™ apparently about to deecamp. A vacancy โ€˜mayโ€™ exist for a backup ruckman/forward. Given Weed has battled manfully against two AFL hardened opposition ruck men and performed competatively. Maybe there is a crack of light at the end of the tunnel.

Needs to impose a little more around the ground

Rucking alone is not enough in the AFL

It would be great if Sam could play 2nd Ruck next year. Big Job, but i would love him to pull it off

Grundy is on too much coin and wonโ€™t play another 5 yearsย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If youโ€™re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footyโ€”you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Caseyโ€™s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down thereโ€”and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwinโ€™s summer of love.ย Manyย issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

Weโ€™re back! That was fun. The Mighty Deesโ€™ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commandingย 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
