Might try and trottle along to this.

Think we should try to get as many people to this game as possible to really kick start the finals for both teams.

can we arrange a training session for the firsts before the game?  10am light session, sign some autographs.  stay around for the final?  they would be there anyway...   get a huge crowd going!

COVID bubble - doubt they will want the squad mingling at this stage

How serendipitous that we play Sydney at our home ground.

Early weather forecast showing a beautiful day.

18 degrees and light winds.

Time to enjoy the legendary bacon and egg roll.

VFL - 2022 Qualifying Final - Casey Demons v Sydney Swans
Saturday,  27th August
Casey Fields
1:05 PM

Match is televised live on channel 7, coverage starts at 1:00pm

Quite a few of the players were well off their game last week up in Brisbane. Hope to see them lift their intensity as they should do in a final.

We are into the big stuff now the finals. Casey finish 1st but lost their one and only loss to second placed Brisbane. Sydney finished the home and away season 4th after belting Box Hill by 57 points.

The game is on Saturday at 1:05 pm at Casey Fields.

Possible team

B: D.Smith, Turner, McVee

HB: Rosman, Tomlinson, Baker

C: Howes, Dunstan, Woewodin

HF: Bedford, Joel.Smith, Chandler

F: M.Brown, McDonald, van Rooyen

FOLL: Weideman, Jordon, Laurie

IC: White, Munro, Buntine, Bell, Valentine

My prediction is Casey by 20 points.

You have Rosman in. I see he has to undergo test. Or has he passed test.?

Casey chances won't be helped if McDonald plays limited minutes. Likely ?

Does Jordan qualify to play.?

I thought if you had played an AFL game after 1 July you had to have played 6 VFL games to qualify?

Happy to be corrected.

If AFL team and VFL are both in the finals together then yes, anyone can qualify.

Had Melbourne not made finals and Casey did then he wouldn't be eligible as he hadn't played enough games.

Thats a good rule

Will be very interesting to see who plays in this game.  Are there players who need a game for conditioning?  Will Bowey/Smith/Jordon etc play 4 quarters?  Assuming Salem is back in for the firsts next week.

As you say an interesting question

Smith will definitely play 4 quarters. He's a mile off senior selection.

Bowey and Jordon... difficult to say

And what happens to T Mac if Casey wins next week and we don't select him for the Sydney final?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

Captain Max Gawn still has a massive lead in the Demonland Player of the Year Award from Christian Petracca, Kozzy Pickett, Jake Bowey & Clayton Oliver. Your votes please; 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
