It's a cliche but this is another huge game that we simply must win.  By whacking the filth  pretenders tonight we will tie up a top two finish and keep our flag defence at the G.

I'll be driving The Manor's dog ute in tonight and meeting some Demonlanders for an early start on the booze. This will likely mean I'll need post match accommodation. ( Demonland sheilas feel free to offer)

I reckon we'll win - let's get that straight, but expect the filth to come at us hard. Our defence will be key but expect super games from Clarrie and Max.

BBB to kick 3!!

FYI BBO not sure the lead in with driving the dog ute and getting on the booze is the best strategy for getting post game accomodation with Demonland sheilas 😀

Anyway hope your right about the game result - we will need to apply our trademark full field pressure and stop their run - if we do that we should prevail and how sweet it will be

Would like to see that showboating, long string of water Cox, cop a few belts tonight. All legally of course

And i'll also add, if the Collingwood fans start singing that nauseating "USA USA" chant at any stage, I promise to spew all over the nearest group of pies supporters

Surely the pies at $3.12 would have the be the longest odds of any team on a 10 game winning streak.

They're $3.20 on points bet, pretty remarkable. Are the "experts" really so confident?

On another note: does anyone have any clever tips for parking at the G? Normally, we train it in from Bala’ but want to make a quicker getaway tonight with the kids. Any ideas?

You need to park at a train station near your freeway then train it in last few stations.

Assuming Bala is Ballarat, and assuming you will come into rhe g via the west gate, my tip is get off at Power Street, turn right onto city road and then just after the first set of lights, turn left at the next set of lights (a 7-11 is on the corner).

Right behind the 7-11 is the entrance to the publuc car park underneath the eureka tower. I think it's only $15 for the park (should be half given the ridiculous shortness of each bay!).

Great spot for the city and g.

You can cross the river right there and walk along the Yarra to the G

15 -20 minute walk tops.

And when you leave you are straight onto the freeway again and avoid all rhe crazy traffic around the g on punt road, Alexandria Ave et etc.

That was the very reason I was hoping Grundy would've returned this week at the expense of Cox.

Will not be able stomach the "USA USA" chant if Cox has his way against us again.

Slim pickings right here, BBO.

Personally I’d LOVE to offer you post match accommodation at mine, except I’m allergic to rude, irritating, pompous, overbearing, belligerent, obnoxious, abrasive people.

As we have a fair distance between our last finals clash and now, I’ve always been circumspect on Collingwood and their supporters.

I’ve viewed them with some sympathy as there are plenty of Collingwood supporters for who the Pies are the only source of joy in their lives (though that could be said for some of the fans of every club). I always viewed Essendon supporters as worse

I now realise that just because that Essendon supporters are grating, that doesn’t mean that Collingwood ones aren’t annoying.

Realistically, they are due for a tumble. BBB coming in helps tremendously. Plus Cox can’t win the Kent Kingsley medal as he will have opposition like May, Gawn and Jackson on him.

DeGoey is the issue. The bloke could be as good as Tracc but has lacked the discipline. That said, his big body, when teamed up with the absent Taylor Adams, has been a match for a midfield group that usually physically monsters its opposition.

I agree with @binman that the theories of how to beat a full strength Melbourne are mostly twaddle in how they are presented (I.e. the Manangatang thirds could apply this supposed strategy and they could beat Melbourne). I will admit that there is a method more effective than others, but it relies on either one of two variables:

1) Our physical pressure, zone and talk is down allowing fast and low delivery into the opposition forward line. Collingwood have brutally taken advantage of this in our last two meetings

2) If our physical pressure, zone and talk is up, then the opposition need to be both physically imposing, precise by foot and hand and have supreme fitness in order to run and spread.

Not many teams can do this. The only time I can say we were genuinely outclassed since the end of 2020 is against the Crows at Adelaide Oval. They were absolutely sensational that game.

I reckon we win by a goal, but I don’t say that with a lot of confidence.

I am more nervous than if the Purge was about to start. Silly really as by any metric we should flatten them. I guess my fear is this thread should it be a close game.

BTW big shout out to everyone going, super jealous, make some noise.

Mihocek is a big in for them, as he always plays well against us.

Didn't have to play on May last time... that helps.

We need to beat them. There is nothing more to say.

After watching the game live at Optus last week I'm confident. Our press was impenetrable, and whilst we know the pies will move the ball quickly (and be more of a challenge), having all 3 of May, Lever and Petty in the side gives me confidence we'll win the required battles more often than not. No Adams is a big out for them too.

I'm also expecting 3+ goals from BBBB who will be fresh af.

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
