What's next for Adem Yze?

I reckon the lack of respect here for Goody is pretty poor.

Why do we ever need Yze to take over? Why couldn't Goody leave when he's grey and old, ala Ferguson at Man United?

I'd love Yze to stay at the MFC, but if he wants to become a senior coach, he needs to go elsewhere.

Disgraceful really..

Goody's coaching has frustrated me at tines this year but there is absolutely no one else I want coaching this footy club other then Goody.

There is only one reason he came back to the MFC.

He thought Goody was toast.

Tonight and last week has really fkd me off something chronic.

Yep, agree. Would have expected the job was 50-50 his partway through 2021.

I'd second that.

Said it last week as a succession plan was berated on here

Goodwin puts in another half season of this Carp and it is possible

bet you have changed your tune now according to your twitter ;)

hes a disaster. An Arrogant disaster

Let’s send Goodwin to Essendon. They said they want an experienced coach and promote Yze as our head coach.
how can we make this happen?

If that happens it tells me the club haven't matured one iota.

The real issue is the test now on Goody to re-set the team and coaching strategies and style to take the list deep into 2023. The window can't be wasted with the talent we have at present.

The next 1 to 2 years will now tell us if Goody has it or not.

Move him on and we DO become a laughing stock again.

Over to you Simon.

all this extolling of yze's abilities has me confused

our midfield is lax defensively and regularly makes poor decisions and can't execute basic skills

if he gets a go at another club as a senior coach good luck to him, but he's not the messiah by any stretch of the imagination

After we won 10 straight? Doubtful

No.

Goody's coaching has frustrated me more as the season gone on.

But in no way form do i/we need a coaching change. But we're allowed to get frustrated you know.

Some of the calls on here for him to be sacked/moved on have been ridiculous.

i dont agree he should be sacked at all. but he does need to learn to be more open to being bold, and seriously needs a better judge of talent in his squad

Only a group of Melbourne supporters would want to change their premiership winning coach for an untried senior coach because he played for Melbourne.

It's as bad as Essendon supporters entertaining Hird as a coach because he's a legend of their club.

It's real big brain stuff.

I am as [censored] as anyone about last night and how this season ended, but FFS what a joke to suggest we should get rid of Goodwin.

Who the hell suggested we should get rid of Goodwin? Give me the names.

Being reported that Ooze is the favourite for the bombers job

To say I have mixed feelings about this is an understatement. Any inexperienced coach will get eaten up by that dysfunctional club. Although they have a good list with some good kids. I doubt he’d have full control to do what needs to be done but good luck to him if he wants it

Yze to Essendon would be a disaster for him. That club is a coach-killer.

But I don’t know why there is such love for him/distrust of Goody on this thread. There can’t be any doubt that Yze had major input into the same game plan that everyone is criticising.

He apparently has a good relationship with the players, so keep him as the face. But build around him and cover his weaknesses (which is hard with the soft cap)

need to cover

- his poor match day strategy & moves

- his lack of ability to identify issues with the game plan, and be flexible enough to come up with solutions

- lack of experimentation. Why didn’t we try and fix obvious issues this year?

- forward 50 connection

anything else?

Prior to round 1 last year the job was probably 70% his. Would say we would have made a change if we started the year poorly in 2021. The rest is history.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
